And according to Gov Statistics 850 people are killed every year where speeding was the major contributing factor. So your speeding makes you much much much much more of a danger on the roads than any cyclist will ever be.

Was this for breaking a speed limit or inappropriate speed for the conditions?

It seems that just speeding is my only crime in your list BUT what I don't do is drive around at night without my lights on, drive the wrong way down one way streets, run red lights, drive along pavements or drive the wrong way around round-a-bouts.
Which is one more offence than I commit while cycling.

Why do you feel entitled to commit an offence which (the government states) is clearly responsible for a significant number of deaths annually while you condemn cyclists who, on the main are harming no-one?

But not the cyclist I watched last Friday night, 7.30 at night, busy set of traffic lights, he flew through the traffic waiting at a red light, sailed right through the lights, all dressed in black with no lights or anything reflective about him. He was narrowly missed by a car coming through the opposing green light. He then just carried on merrilly on his way.

These are just anecdotes, I'm afraid, and they don't stack up against the stats which show that these misses are just that - misses. The stats suggest the cyclist to be much more on the ball than you give him credit for.

This one took his life in his hands, see him at 16 seconds exiting school, then at 25 seconds flying across the road without even a cursory glance to the right, the fact that I braked was the only reason an ambulance was not needed, the camera is a bit misleading as it appears to show objects further away than they are due to the lens, the bike was about 4-5 feet in front of me.

    .
Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition

We can't all be perfect like you.

Nearly the exact same happened to me years ago in Edinburgh.

    Except it wasnt dark.

And he didnt carry on merrily.

Absolute rubbish. I only speed on motorways where there should be no cyclists. In any case, I only venture about 10 - 15 mph over the speed limit anyway. Accidents are mostly caused by poor driving skills. I have a PCV class one licence and hold a AIM certificate. I have been driving over 30 years covering thousands of miles during my career and have never been in or caused an accident while driving a car.

Read the above. Most cyclists (yes MOST) I see regularly break more laws than motorists. I can look out of my lounge window overlooking a busy road at night and I will see around 7 out of 10 cyclist ride passed without so much as a milk bottle top for a reflector, never mind lights. I will see cyclists ride through red lights and ride dangerously on the nearside of indicating vehicles on every journey I make.

I did get a surprise a couple of nights ago however, I passed a cyclist which had a bright, steady rear light and his front light was brighter than some car headlights! I nearly stopped and congratulated him!

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: That's brilliant! A cyclist on the ball who has no lights, has dark clothing and runs a red light! Sheer luck more like than being 'on the ball'! Or maybe it's because of the driving skills of the motorists which prevented an accident?
