Motorists - What annoys you most about cyclists
Hi,
To give a balance view I thought I'd start covering the other side of the fence.
Cyclists - Pay no road tax but expect the same rights as motor vehicle users
Cyclists - Consistently ride side by side just to be a pain the !!!
Cyclists - Get in the way.
Love the new forum keep up the good work!!

I think your 1st and 3rd points are daft. I cycle to work everyday yet i pay exactly the same taxes on the car that i leave at home than you do on your car that i am 'getting in the way' of.
Cyclists that run every red light with no regard for anything other than them getting to their destination as quickly as possible. It's a matter of time before alot of the cyclists I see everyday get killed0 -
People who let their kids out on bikes this time of year with no lights or helmet.
Cyclists who get !!!!ed off at me for not leaving a 3 foot gap down the nearside of my so they can hide in my blindspot.
Cyclists who ignore zebra crossings when I'm walking. Scored one once. Hitting an immovable object carrying a box that probably weighs more than your whole body, when you're doing 20mph in your lycra listenning to your iPod ain't a good idea.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?0 -
The roads around us are used constantly be cycle clubs. More often than not they ride at least 3 abreast and in packs which cause a great deal of frustration and angst by the local motorists. On one occasion there were riders spread over the total width of a short dualled road near here, deliberately not allowing any motorists to pass. They were seen by a local resident who is a police officer who contacted their club to say that this behaviour was totally unacceptable.0

Why isnt this in the motoring board?0

Same old same old tired arguments from motorists:Cyclists - Pay no road tax but expect the same rights as motor vehicle users
As has already been said, a lot of cyclists are also motorists, so we pay VED anyway.Cyclists - Consistently ride side by side just to be a pain the !!!

Same old same old tired arguments from motorists:
Road tax was abolished by Winston Churchill in 1936. Car drivers pay VED, which is based on greenhouse gas emissions. Cyclists have zero emissions so would pay zero VED. Exactly the same amount as a lot of cars on the road.
As has already been said, a lot of cyclists are also motorists, so we pay VED anyway.
Dave
The roads are paid for out of general taxation and council tax, so therefore all cyclists who pay any form of tax contribute to the road network.
Perhaps only higher rate taxpayers should be allowed to use the road - after all they contribute the most towards the upkeep and therefore it's only fair that they should get priority.
Maybe only let basic rate payers use the roads outside peak hours? They should pull over and let higher rate taxpayers pass...0 -
