Replace Double Glazing - or not - this is the question...

I would get a local firm out to quote for replacing the window units. You may well find that it costs less than you expect - in which case I'd get them replaced, because you don't want a buyer knocking lots of money off their offer / survey in a similar, wrong, expectation.
Giving a follow up to this post.
Today we had a local firm give a quote for replacing 14 units at just under £900 which we are delighted with. Which included all relevant guarantees that were mentioned in earlier posts.
The lower glass units needed to be toughened glass as stipulated by the present laws.
Talking it through on this Forum helped to lift our fears of a massive bill or the thought of prospective purchasers being put off with condition of the DB.
Many thanks to all on this Forum for the help and advice given.
Kind regards

Now you have the glazing sizes, on the quote, ring round a couple more companies.
You may be able to get it cheaper.0 -
Thanks for the update.
As above ring round to get more quotes!0 -

I had a panel in conservatory roof replaced this summer 1600x 600 for £80 fitted. just to give you a ballpark figure. Shouldn't cost thousands
Your advice was also followed...Thanks

Did you give up thinking of a reason for the "" on the word knowing :rotfl:
if my post was pointless, what was the point of your post?
and oops only has two Os
To try to explain and prevent you being even more offensive to the OP.
I now realise you are correct, you uptake of English isn't great, and neither was your response to Bertie.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Another thing to consider, be aware some of the types of glass used now might appear tinted when fitted close to an original, undamaged unit.0

A very good point you have made, it has been noted.

When DG units are removed and then replaced with new units, is the work carried out on the outside or inside of the property?

That depends on the seal of the glass, iirc older units were often externally fitted (bad for security!), newer ones have the glass fitted from the inside.
Either way if it's just replacing the actual glass and not the whole unit (glass and frame), it shouldn't make much if any mess as they won't be doing anything messy (it basically involved popping off the bit of plastic that goes around the inside of the frame, and sits against the glass).0
