I seriously believe that once they officially go into administration it will be only a matter of days before there are major store closures. It will probably take until Tuesday to organise getting someone from the administrators into each store and office.

Well it looks like every store was shut today and will open at 1pm.

The same with the website (not sure when it reopen). Prehaps OpCapita went "!!!!!! this, lets slash and burn over the weekend to leave sod all for Delloitte"

If I was in charge, I'd be pretty certain that there's no chance for survival (I mena OpCapita was realistically Comet's last chance) especially with my suppliers turning up at my distribution centre and reclaiming stock) I'd cut prices across the board and if me/my investors came out ahead with a profit I'd tell each store manager, sorry but this is the end, sell all stock at whatever price you can get and share it between the staff as a farewell bonus.

No one will no whats is happening untill Monday at the earliest,
    All deliveries will be honoured.
All forms of vouchers are still being accepted.
There are buyers out there looking to buy Comet, they have been trying for months.
why do you think comet is in this mess, coz of potential buyouts has panic'd sony, samsung and the rest of the manufactories.
This has come down to insurance cover. comet have been buying stock with its own monnies unlike all the other companies who buy on tick.
    Curries ect..
So stop listening to idle gossip.
    Poor advice.

Once Comet goes into administration (if it does), it'll be too late for consumers to do everything. They need to sort things out before it goes into administration, which Comet have stated will be next week. This gives people this weekend (plus an extra day or two if they can get to Comet on a weekday). Telling them to wait until Monday will potentially leave a lot of people out of pocket.

Unfortunately Tom he's a new user and probably a Comet employee hoping to stem the press and news, as the only other option is he has no idea on consumer rights and is delusional.

But at a guess I'd say he was/current is employed by Comet and slightly angered by how the papers have helped fuel this administration (despite the fact the problems were already there since OpCapita took over and did little to solve those problems)

    Missleading and inaccurate post.

Do you have the authority to come on here and confirm that all deliveries will be honoured? Of course you don't any more than the rest of us.

I hardly think it is idle gossip. Comet are likely to go into administration next week at which point people can and probably will lose money/deposits etc. Of course people are going to be concerned. It's not like it is the first company to go down this route recently is it?!!!

I suspect you are probably right.

........Sadly with the current economic climate, incompetent gov, lack of consumer spending it will not be the last

we have lost a fair few big names in the past few years and its pretty certain that a few more will be lost in the near future :(:(:(

    .

Just been to my local store to redeem my Comet insurance replacement card and it is still shut, with a note saying it will open at 5pm now.. There was a nice angry mob outside expecting it to be open at 1pm which made life more interesting.

I can't believe any staff will turn up for work, so I imagine I'm !!!! out of luck really.

I'm not even sure deliveries will be honoured. They said in their Press release they have every Intention of honouring all deliveries.

That statement along with the fact that suppliers were turning up at the distribution centre by the truckload to recover the goods before the administrators turned up.

Certainly doesn't install much confidence that all deliveries will be delivered.

Does this mean bargains will be available from stores closing down ?
If so - I assume that the manufacturers warranty still stands ?
