  • Don't worry, it will come.

i hope so..... my 13 year old fridge freezer has given up the ghost... and is freezing my tomatoes and cucumber and yoghurts...........
  • I've £70 left (of £250) on a Comet insurance replacement card supplied by Direct Line home insurance following a burglary. Can anyone confirm that this will still be accepted tomorrow morning ?

Hoping the store isn't stripped bare already, as the only thing I can really think of wanting to buy is another 2.5" external HDD for back-up & archiving movies ... always useful.

Just curious about the scenario if the pre-paid card was refused. If I took an off the shelf / display item of equivalent value (possibly in the closure sale) and managed to exit the store without apprehension, where would I stand legally ?

  • No one will no whats is happening untill Monday at the earliest,
    All deliveries will be honoured.
All forms of vouchers are still being accepted.
There are buyers out there looking to buy Comet, they have been trying for months.
why do you think comet is in this mess, coz of potential buyouts has panic'd sony, samsung and the rest of the manufactories.
This has come down to insurance cover. comet have been buying stock with its own monnies unlike all the other companies who buy on tick.
    Curries ect..
So stop listening to idle gossip.

Yes any vouchers and insurance cards will be accepted probably till Monday.

Also I would not be so sure of deliverys being honoured.

It seems that the suppliers have been queuing to get into Comets distribution centre to reclaim their stock before the administrators are called in. Smart move, hence why Comet, Comet Auctions and Sainsburys sites are offline (the latter having stopped sales of white goods)

I don't think anyone is lineing up to buy all of Comet, the reports were for part of Comet such as their brand or online website, Comet may exist in the future as a online only brand, but no one is lineing up to take its stores off them except for purely property value.
  • I was in comet last month. I picked a washing machine for 499.99 and said I would have it if they waived the £20 next day delivery charge. They refused. I went next door to currys who agreed to waive the charge and delivered it the next day. It's things like this which lose comet sales and drive there customers elsewhere. Not a coincidence that currys is doing so well.

Can anyone help me as to where I stand. The remote control on my TV broke (the TV works fine) so I took it back to Comet on Tuesday and they have sent it away for repair - what are the chances of me getting it back and repaired? Also what happens with extended warranty? I've got a 5 year one :(

breesey24 you will be fine in terms of warranty, the 5 year term is supplied by a trust fund or a insurance company.

And Robb5810 if you look on the guardian website I believe there's a retail analyst saying the same thing, Comets service has slipped and their stores look pretty soulless, while the Currys in the same retail park have revamped stores and greatly improved their customer service and offers.

Well I doubt that very much, anyone who was seriously interested could have bought it in February.
