Should we make the green tick work the same as the red cross?

I love the red x ability to click without going into the post. Also loving the green cross. Thanks0

As most people have already said, I think the Red X is a great idea as I can just hover over the post title and if it doesn't interest me I can click X without having to open the post. However for the tick, if I've entered the competition I automatically click on the tick once I've submitted my entry, and to do this I'd have to open the post anyway so I don't see any need to have the tick "outside" the post.0

Loving the new status quo. :j
The Green Tick is now an essential tool for entering and tracking comps; the current functionality is ideal for me and I can't see any reason to change it further. As has been mentioned already, you need to open a post to be able to enter a comp, so there seems to be no point in having the Green Tick accessible from the main forum listing.
Having the Red Cross now accessible from the main forum listing is however very useful, as when combined with hovering over post titles it makes it much quicker to filter out and mark comps that I'm not interested in.
Thanks to all who have been working so hard on this extra functionality - your efforts are much appreciated. :T:T:T

Agree that the green tick works well the way it is. What would be nice, just from an aethestically pleasing point of view, would be the red cross disappearing on the thread title once the green tick has been clicked. After all, you can't simultaneously skip and enter a comp. Then the page would line up nicely with each comp having a tick or a cross all in a nice vertical line.0

I love the new format, I can click the red cross without opening the post (just realised this doh!) and can keep a check of what I've won with my green ticks. PERFECT.

The Red cross is great, please leave the green tick inside the OP.
Many Thanks

The red cross is fine as it is in my view,no need for the green tick to be the same :-)
After seeing the mention of hovering over posts to see content I hope its ok to link to a post that I made & open it for further discussion.
It's just that the "hovering" bit does not work if the links are not visible via page view, either due to in a word such as "clicky" or hidden by text.

main content:
Whilst I really am thankful for all comps posted a few slight tweaks in posting style within the main post would speed things up for me.
Firstly could we try to move away from hiding the links behind words such as "Click","Link" etc.We are not trying to be secretive as to where we are linking to after all.
I just tend to make a "clicky" out of the stripped down comp URL eg here.
No way is perfect although I do like Twotimes posting style eg here but usually find my way quicker.I'd say that my way is even quicker than posting a separate, new word eg "Clicky"
Secondly could the link eg Daily Mail , Daily Telegraph etc be posted as the first thing on a comp post.
By doing both it would be possible to just place the cursor on the post,in page view & see the comps link page. This would saving opening posts that hold no interest for one eg for myself I do not enter via More Magazine or Meadowhall, amongst others. This is for various reasons & is not meant as a slight on the comp posters of those sites.
All the above is just a suggestion for further discussion & in no way meant as a slight on anyone.0 -
Having worked with this today - my only gripe is when you have ticked the green tick - I dont like that the red x is showing fainter. Its sending my eyes funny. On the main page I would prefer a red x or green tick as would be easier to see at a glance.
Really please you can x without going into the post though.0 -
I would like to see the green tick on the outside like the red cross now is. As a lot of the comps are on face book I enter via that and then see them on here. It would be good to just tick it so I know i've done it0

I agree! Its confusing me and I squinted for 2 hours last night trying to comp and work out what it was I had actually red crossed previous and new posts i still had to view!
My poor eyes! Makes me wish I had never started doing comps in advance to end date, ive spent all day going through 300 pages marking the red cross in same post I have already got the green tick just so i can view with ease now, when i skim down the pages it is very off putting and i found yesterday I missed quite a few because the off putting faint red crosses everywhere.
I suggested yesterday perhaps make this a darker colour for us who have poor eyesight, would make hell of a difference skimming through the pages now! As it is it took me twice as long to comp now, and however much I love the idea - my eyes dont :rotfl:
since introducing the green tick I have found this a godsend so please do not fiddle with that one
