Finally got home and a chance to play,

Very pleased with the system, whipped out the PCI Modem and replaced it with a 10 quid Freeview DVB PCI Card

will probably stick another 1gb in the spare ram slot, apart from that just perfect, Daughter can now use it as a full media centre PC with TV recording thanks to the media centre features in vista.

I just built a E6400 system for myself last week, and even without an OS that cost me more than the Advent with Vista Premium and a years warranty!

Wish I had ordered another one now for a friend!

    No, dual core doesn't mean 1.8Ghz x 2 = 3.2Ghz...... it's a common misconception but don't worry you're getting a fab piece of kit.

It means you have a second processor which can handle work which in effectsmeans work can be completed twice as quick as single core processors of the same speed. That's the keyword though *can* ... not all software supports dual core but more and more things are.

Currently dual core will benefit you if you have more than one applications open doing different things, as you have two processors working through the tasks. If you have one application open that doesn't support dual core then you will have one idle second processor doing nothing.

If you're a gamer which is CPU intense, then you'll be pleased to know more and more games are supporting dual core but right now, not many.

My gf's PC is out for dispatch today too, its quite funny ... could have paid twice the price to get a specific time sometime next week :) Don't think she will be around to sign for it though!

No luck - I had a rant at pc world by email today and just received a call, but they still won't reinstate the order because it's a refurb and they don't know if they will get anymore. Grrr.

    A £10 freeview PCI card?

Got mine from a local Computer Fair, Phillips one with TV Freeview & FreeSat all on one board for 10 quid!!

WARNING - If you have bought this computer you need to check this, I just went to make my Vista Recovery Disc (From the Techguys Icon on the desktop), and got a message that the DVD had already been created and no more could be made!!

Took me over half an hour on the phone to PC World to convince them I need this, so they are going to send out a Vista Recovery DVD.

But if you got one of these, make your recovery DVD now, and if it does not let you call them and kick up a stink, as without it if you have to reformat the hard drive at any point you are stuck without Vista!!

    Cheers

Has anyone ran dxdiag on theirs yet? Mine is coming up as a T9107 model instead of a T9308  Ive looked up on the internet and that model shows as an Intel Pentium D 820 Dual Core. Which from what i understand is not as good as the Intel Core 2 duo.

In my graphics section of the dxdiag its saying 382mb for the graphics instead of the 512mb which it should be. Ive not had a proper play about with it yet as one of the first things we did was put Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (think thats what its called) just to see if it would play and it does.
So been having a play around with that.

When i get to go on there soon i will look further and see what else i can find out.

    Hi Jaxxy

As per my earlier post, the Video Card is really 128mb, and the other memory is taken from system memory (Not a good idea with just the basic 1GB), thats whats confusing your diag programe.

Its a bit naughty but all the manufacturers are selling them like that now

Yes they come up on diag as T9107 (Lots of advents seem to!)

If you run CPU-Z much better at giving correct info
