put a note on your door saying "if I am not in please return any deliveries to the depot"?0 -
Mine is out for delivery.. I don't live far from the depot though so they quite often deliver quite late, presumably on the way back.0

Mine's here.. not allowed to fire it up until my dissertation is completed - otherwise I will fail my degree playing with my new toy.. It looks shiny and new.. no manuals or anything but not bothered about that.. will check the recovery disk thing when I boot it.0

Well I live in a block of flats, so hat cant be done, as the front door to building is locked and need to be opened for access, according to DHL it was sent for delivery at 10am, this is 10 miles from my house, and hasnt arrived yet, hope it arrives after 4pm as thats when flatmate is back.0

Typing this now on my new PC! :j
It arrived at 9am and was up and running by 11am
I had to go out for a couple of hours, but have been playing around with it for a bit now. First impressions:
It was packed atrociously. It came with an optical mouse and a rubbish keyboard, Microsoft Works disk and Vista manuals.
Contrary to what some have said, this isn't especially quiet. Maybe I'm spoilt, because my Dell was pretty much silent. Don't get me wrong, it isn't noisy, but I wouldn't want to use it as a media PC. Mine also had the non-working recovery DVD option, but since the serial number's on the case I'll just borrow a friends vista disk if I need to.
The DVD Writer does have lightscribe.
It's fast. Really fast. Maybe it's just because my last PC was so slow, but the dual core makes a massive difference when multi-tasking.
All in all, chuffed to bits with it. Can forgive the shoddy packing given that it's a refurbished PC (not that you'd know from it's condition).0 -
my packaging was fine - brand new box - decent polystyrene around the computer.. the keyboard and mouse and stuff in a separate box.
Also dell pcs are often a lot quieter because they use BTX cases with HUGE spaces at the front to let in lots of air.. a quiet PC is usually a hot PC.0 -
Just got mine today.
When I plug a USB2 device in, I get a message saying "This USB device can perform faster if you connect it to a high speed USB 2 port" it then invites me to scan the available ports and tells me "There are no HIGH-SPEED USB host controllers installed on this computer"
Surely it must have USB2 ports ?
Also, the I was expecting a mouse and keyboard, since they were shown on the sales photo. I got the the compter and nothing else, no mains cable, no manual, no disks, absolutely nothing, is this usual ?0 -
I 've just read the post from Lellie about the packaging and digged deeper into the box to find a false botton with the keyboard etc. in there. Doh!
Thanks Lellie0
