How do you get an automatic 5 for communication ?0

You need to specify 1 day despatch, and actually mark it despatched within that time frame. You must also NOT have any correspondence between you and the buyer- which I always find odd as it seems inpolite not to let a buyer know item has been despatched.
Obviously if the buyer contacts you for any reason even asking if it has been posted, then they are able to leave stars.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. eBay send an automatic email when you click an item as dispatched. I always send an email, and I specify two-day dispatch so wouldn't qualify anyway, but it is really geared towards sellers who sell in bulk such that sending individual messages is going to take more time than is practical, yet were vulnerable to issues buyers had with eBay's spam emails."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

You should be proud of that expanded dashboard, and it goes to show that it can be done.
i was even prouder last month when I was showing ratings of 5/5/4.9/5 but now I 5/4.9/4.9/4.9 so must of had some 4s within my last few sales, Im very happy with my 5 on item as described though, always worry I may have missed something when doing descriptions and will be marked down. I consider myself lucky though, never had an item go missing in post (touch wood) and only 1 item returned so must be doing something rightS.P.C member 1662 - target £3000 -
Amazon mandate dispatch in 2 working days.
Amazon gives you 2 business days to ship but doesn't mark you down unless you ship on or after the 3rd day past this, thus giving you 4 days to post and a long ETA is provided to the customer so they are very likely to answer "yes" to the date Amazon give when asking if it arrive by xx. Postage and packaging charges 4.88 0.00% (0)
Buyer protection cases
Opened cases 4.76% (1)
Closed cases without seller resolution 0.00% (0)
The opened case was resolved on a mutual basis (still 100% feedback) so I don't know if that causes ongoing issues.
The other categories dipped after a courier missed a collection and then the buyer wanted to return part of the item because it wasn't compatible with their system. I agreed to refund on a part-basis but wouldn't cover return postage so I think he marked me down.0 -
My only low star rating (a 2*) is ironically for item as described, which angers me no end, because that is something I think I am quite strict on with my listings, right down to material % content, lots of photos etc. I'm pretty sure it was from the person who left me the neutral saying the belt loop was broken. It wasn't broken when I sent it, I am 100% certain of that. The way I packed it meant I'm pretty certain it wouldn't have been broken in the post either. The buyer didn't contact me at all to mention it, so I couldn't do anything to rectify it (refund or partial refund) and it's not like I can describe something in the listing that wasn't there when I sent it. I also have a 3 for item description which I imagine is from the woman who told me the dark purple skirt was actually navy blue. I'd had that skirt years and never once had I looked at it and thought I really must wear my navy blue skirt tonight. In my eyes it is purple and always will be. She then said well it even says in the label Nav (for navy blue) yes, and my cardigan also from Topshop and a COMPLETELY different colour to the skirt also says Nav in the label. I would say the cardigan is blue, but the skirt was definitely purple! If I'd have described the skirt as blue, someone would have probably told me it was purple. She didn't ask to return the skirt either, just moaned it was the wrong colour and gave me low stars. Anyway my point is, people are sometimes unreasonable when it comes to giving stars. I can only describe something as I see it. It's not like I said it was purple and when she got it, it was orange! That would be grounds for a low star. Infact, I don't even think people should be allowed to give low stars for item description unless they have contacted the seller first to try and resolve it.0

Here is my Star Ratings from my expanded dashboard. I've got no issues at present, however I still personally think the star system is really crap.
Even if you haven't got anything to worry about, you can't predict the future, and it'll only take one !!!!!!!! leaving a negative to make me lose my Top rated seller status.
I don't particularly consider that very fair.0 -
Just to say - the automatic 5* for comms doesn't seem to be working exactly as eBay intended. I set dispatch to "within 2 days" on all my listings (even though I do usually post next day). Yet I have been experimenting with not sending dispatch messages to buyers and it does seem that I am getting the automatic 5*s.

Well done Soolin for this thread.
:T
I know many find it hard to believe - but most people don't know the dashboard is there, or what its for - until its too late.
I just saw a big green button and stars that looked good. It wasn't until the button turned red - i came one here and someone said click on it. A few days later the dreaded improve or be removed email.
Ebay are scum, sorry, but they are - they really should be sending everyone your helpfull thread - instead of hiding the dashboard and getting a kick out of their culls - without a care what it does to people who use Ebay to get rid of their items in hard times.
Mines all 0% across the board for low stars and cases - then 4.96, 4.95, 4.92 (despite posting next day) and 4.93. Not bad considering this time last year i was facing suspension. As Soolin says - it shows it can be done. It would have just helped had i known about it sooner. I was just aiming for 4 out of 5 stars - thinking that was good lol.0
