i had one of these not the best on print quality, very bad when you use budget ink as well, the wireless can be a bit weak at times, after 3 months i switched to HP version which i got for £55 and it works like a charm, but its a good printer for all round work!
  • Couple of questions for those who have already got one:

    1) Does this scan using the wireless network or only by usb?

    2) Can you copy from the card readers by the wireless network?

    TIA,

    Calv

You can use either I believe.

The printer is aware of all the computers on your wireless network. You can either initiate a scan from a computer, or from the wireless printer, and tell it which computer on the network you want to send the scanned image. A neat feature.

yes you just have to set it up correctly on each computer [i.e. the included software - think newer software existed on the brother website]...

I can scan, read from memory cards and print all wirelessly from my laptop and desktop.....

I bought another one of these for a family member at £40 [with the voucher]... bargain.....

has anyone got this working (wirelessly) with Vista?

Yes, sons laptop works fine although we had to download a little program from Brother and also use the XP driver, as there is no Vista specific, but it worked OK.
I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing! ;)

I've just been updating the drivers and other software from the Brother website and Vista drivers are there, too.

And, as for moaning about cleaning cycles: you’re not supposed to switch the printer off completely at the mains. If you do that, it won’t know how long it’s been since it last cleaned, and it will keep wasting time and ink on re-doing it.
Badly designed then. You should be able to switch everything off at the mains that doesn't need to do anything on a timer, or you're just wasting energy and causing unnecessary fire risks. Real time clocks cost pennies.
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.
