Just had a look. No tax displayed as the disc has been put in the window inside out. There is an operator's thing, thanks. We're in Essex and it's a company in Northern Ireland. So maybe it won't be here for long! Just googled but I can't find the company. The license says "XYZ Company c/o James" but if James' surname is listed then it's covered up by the barcode at the bottom.
Never seen the guy to have a word as he goes out while we're at work during the day and at 3am we're just trying to get back to sleep, but if it carries on I'll go out and have a word (might come across grumpy at that time of night though!). I assume that lorry drivers can't turn off their reversing alarms...0 -
The other night, when he couldn't get into the space outside, he disappeared round to his end of the street and didn't return so he must have parked round there, but it is narrow (we live in a typical estate cul-de-sac) so possibly it does cause problems for his direct neighbours.
Thanks for the tips all. As I said, if it carries on I'll try a 3am conversation first.0 -
Is it on UK or NI plates?0

The simplest thing to do is contact the local council's noise abatement department, or if you have a local PCSO they can have a word.
I had a similar issue a few years ago with the son of one of the neighbours who would go out at 3.30am. He never de iced his car, preferring to sit with the engine running and music blaring for 20 minutes until it defrosted. I mentioned it to the local PCSO one day when we were chatting and he called in and had a quiet word. Problem solved.0 -
Call me old fashioned, but why not have a polite word with him? Remind him he's supposed to have his reversing buzzer turned off at night in built up areas.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?0 -
I know it's actually an offence to use the horn on a vehicle after a certain time. I would check to see if the same goes for the reversing aid. Also, I would think it's possible to switch them off..
You could have a word with him, approach the company. You can't be the only person getting woken up. If you get some other ppl from your street to complain to it will help0 -

It is an offence to not display tax disc (road fund license) properly. I would take a photo and report to police, council and DVLA."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

If it belongs to a company in NI & has NI registration plates, you also have to display a MOT Test disc alongside the tax disc,so if the isn't one of those then chances are the's no MOT on the vehicle either.0 -
As other people suggest, it is highly unlikely that an Operators Licence would be granted for street parking in a residential area. There is certainly something dodgy about him to be parking 'around the corner'
Use this link http://www.tan.gov.uk/tanen/VOSA_AnonymousOperatorSearch_New.asp and you can search your own postcode to see if anyone on your road has been granted one and then report him to the DVLA. If you can find out the company name, you will be able to find out where he IS supposed to be parking. The opposite of what you know...is also true0 -
