Im not having a dig,but did you look at those interior shots before you went to buy?Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.
Got a huge Buzz out of it.0 -
Five hours from bordesley green to wellsbourne, I bet it broke down on the way and was bodged up.0

I didn't look at the interior pics - my daughter did. she was so intent on getting this car that she said it looked as though there'd been a spill, but we could get seat covers for it - it seemed reasonable to me.0

If it's any consolation, OP, I did something similar when I was younger. Bought a very cheap car from a dodgy-looking car lot and it broke down (too expensive to fix) on the motorway on pretty much its first journey.
I didn't bother trying to get my money back. Probably could have if I followed the right channels but didn't really know about this sort of stuff back then.
The good news is that I've never done it again since. Was an expensive lesson, but at least it was a lesson learned.0 -
I have just managed to get through to the dealer, and after having the phone put down on me 3 times, spoken to to a person who has said that they will come and collect the car, repair it and return it. I refused, saying that I want the money back as the car is unfit to be driven, and I do not want it. He has agreed to collect it and return our money. He is going to ring me back to sort it out. Whether he does or not is another thing altogether, but we shall see. Many thanks everyone for all your help/advice. Lets hope we get the result we want.0

thanks for your post JimmyTheWig - as you say, a lesson learned.0

thank you JimmyTheWig - fingers crossed indeed! It all depends on what they do now, but we'll see. Next time, I think we'll take a man with us!!0

Good news! Best of luck.
But as I mentioned above, next time your daughter wants to buy a car either take someone who knows about cars with you or alternatively pay for an AA inspection (or equivalent).
At <£1k, there will be a lot of crap on the market (but also plenty of decent motors). The trick is to differentiate between the two!0 -
I cant lie to you about your chances, but you have my sympathies..Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
