Nexus 4 - Google aggressive on price

Tried to order one at 8am and continued to try all the way up to about 8:45am.
Was in my basket GOD knows how my times, got to google wallet god knows how many times, payment processing, failed...
At the end of all the faff... no phone.
Will have to wait for the next batch to come in, who knows when that will be and how many =/ Seems it was pure 'luck' who's orders went through.0 -
mrochester - as others have said, Apple were the first to be successful with the 'walled garden' approach, and as a result, can now build many more devices, knowing that they will sell, making them cheaper to manufacture.
Apple DO set the price, very strictly, and take 30% too. They have a set range of prices, and developers or publishers have to fit into those.
ON topic (!) (yes sorry, I had to go and mention Apple!) the problem is that Google HAVE to undercut iDevices, because (and look at the tablet market for proof) people just will not buy Android stuff if it's the same price as an iDevice.
Anyway, I wasn't able to get near a computer in the 20 minute window they were available for!0 -

Thing is it would appear very easy for Google to undercut the prices of iDevices - the Nexus 4 is pretty much half the cost of an iphone 5! Someone is profiteering and it wouldn't appear to be Google. Bad news for Apple's bottom line imo.0 -
I tried to buy one of these yesterday in the UK but like many the Play Store wasn’t up to it. Today I had a play with one of these at a local Carphone Warehouse and I’m sort of glad I didn’t purchase. Whilst I appreciate with Nexus you get pure Google and updates as soon as they are released, the device felt bland and devoid of character. For some this may well be the attraction, no custom skins, or mods and a blank canvas to mod yourself. This is my point, the Nexus remains a device for devs, the design quirk of the back plate is an attempt to warp a developers phone into a consume device, which for me does not cut it. I’m sure the early adopters will love this phone and good for them, and yes I know it’s a steal at £279, but for me the S3, and ONE X present a more consumer friendly experience of android.0

Disgusting TBH. They seem to be going for similar money on the Bay. Fools and their money.....0 -
Has anybody seen anything about when Google might have more in stock?0
-
There doesn't seem to be much information out there about stock, though I have seen info from the states that indicates that they might have oversold their initial allocation so people are being told there is a 3 week (at least) delay in getting it. If true, I guess that means that there won't be anymore stock anytime soon.
Apparently CarphoneWarehouse have stock that is on both 3 and Vodafone (as well as O2) so am considering that though I do prefer the unlocked and choose my own sim-only deal so I'm not tied into a 2 year contract...0 -
All Nexus 4's are unlocked, so you don't have to worry about buying it from a networks shop if you see a good deal.0
