That is great news Mazza, thanks for letting us know :)

Money might not buy health, but it is certainly useful for buying things to make life easier. Depending on need, this can include transport, specially adapted clothing, extra laundry, extra heating, walking aids, carers - the list is endless.

Does getting a different level of DlA equate to more money?

    Yes it will.

But it will also equate to her getting the right amount of care for her problems. Her care needs have changed quite dramatically since she was awarded DLA. It's only 2 years ago she was bouncing around like Tigger on speed and is now left severely disabled. I'm pretty sure she'd rather be out working and to have her health. At the moment she receives LRC, which equates to her getting help with her evening meal. Which is all she needed when she applied. She now needs help with washing, showering and dressing. So MRC would be more appropriate. No night time care needed atm so no HRC. She isn't claiming for anything she doesn't need.

BTW she is no where close to £500/month on top of her ESA... you really need to get your facts straight and stop trolling.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys, it's been a hard fought fight, but we got there in the end

Zoominatorone, you seem to have a problem with the idea that someone who is considerably disabled should get extra money to help pay for the things they need to make their life more comfortable. The DLA can be spent many times over in situations such as this. Surely to goodness your attitude can't be down to jealousy?!

It's not about the rates, it's about ur sarcastic remarks regarding me and my daughter since you found out about her getting her new flat. You're a pretty sad person to be jealous of a disabled young woman. Don't you think she'd rather have use of her legs? Don't you think she'd love to be able to dress herself or do without the embarrassment of having her mother shower her?

This board is for helping people getting what they were entitled to. Not for discussing benefit policy, read the rules if you are capable.
Three generations of one family on some kind of sickness benefit.
What makes us all so ill in this country with the free NHS when some countries have nothing?
Certainly am. But luckily for me, three generations of my family aren't on disability benefits as we all work.

careful the painting doesn't tire everyone out
Does getting a different level of DlA equate to more money?

The possibility of up to £500 per month, every month, on top of the out of work benefits and the accomadation with no rent or council tax to pay---yep, I can see why people would be adamant they want to be on the highest rates of everything.
The old saying money can't buy your health wasn't invented for nothing. Rates of benefits like that will have someone living at a decent standard, as well as, or in some cases better than someone working
Absolutely not, they should live the same as everyone else. People are people.

However, money doesn't improve their health, so is it given so it looks good for the government?

Just in case anyone missed your sarcasm or desire to discuss policy...

And again for the record. We ALL worked as long as we were able to, unfortunately for the DD that was only a couple of years.
