Not sure how I am going to do it. I spent soooo much time comping last December and won so little, it was depressing :(.

yeah december was a poor month for me despite entering probably double the amount of comps as i did other months
  • I will be more selective this year and weigh up the faff/prize/chance of winning ratio. Last year the Lufthansa reindeer game was quite sweet but lots of faff/reasonable prize/very low chance of winning so probably not worth me wasting my time on when I could have been entering others. I will also be more aware of advents that promise great prizes and deliver 10% off codes!

i know one thing for sure I won't be entering the happy Egg Advent this year unless they change their insistence that their winner was the first to send them the correct answer and not a random draw. Pretty pointless entering when the question goes up at midnight if you can't get on til later

  • I'm actually hoping I won't have time. :D

I'm self employed retail so I'm only comping because work is so slow at the moment that I've not really got much else to do.

Not planning any kind of real celebration though- OH is not religious, I'm pagan, and we've not got kids so it's just a few days off and taking advantage of Tesco booze offers really. Might be able to squeeze it all in. :)

I just wanted to remind "oldies" and warn "newbies" that the period between Xmas and New Year is very, very quiet for comping.

Last year on the 1st-2nd December, as well as advents to enter, there were 911 new comps posted. From 25th-31st December when the advents had just about finished, there were only 720 new comps posted over the whole 7 days. (For comparison, 208 comps were posted yesterday).

For the first couple of weeks in December, I put all comps ending 31/12 or later in bookmarks/favourites and save these until after Christmas Eve before entering. This frees up enough time to do the advents and all the other comps I normally do, and also means I have plenty of comping to do after Christmas.

Incidentally - The Times ran hourly comps on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day last year

What!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????? OMG If they do that again this year I won't be entering! Last year I never comped from 23rd to 27th - it was nice to have a rest after the advents and enjoy my family!
:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea

I think I'll have a nosy at the list and have a go at the ones that appeal the most and leave the others.
Last year I did loads of Christmas ones and didn't win a cracker ('scuse the pun :p) So I'll stick to the daily ones that I normally do and just potter on here, Facebook and this year I'll be having a go on Twitter if there's anything interesting comes up.

Can i ask a hopefully not too silly question?

What are Advents? From what I can make out they appear to be a daily run throughout December!

From the sounds of it there are quite a lot as well! :j
