I don't know what your line of work was in but have you thought of using your skills possible in a part time capacity.
There are loads of places who wish to employ a more "mature" person as they find them more reliable.
I wish you well in your retirement.0 -
Thanks for that thought kelpie and the thought had crossed my mind....but I'd have to have the ability to do time travel to be able to do so in effect:rotfl:
Reason being that my line of work has now basically become outdated. One of the reasons I was intent on retiring still at my Retirement Age (ie 60) rather than waiting for my Revised State Pension Age was because I'd lost my skills and could only do unskilled work latterly.
Having rueful thoughts this morning about the amount of money I am short of for urgent work on this new-to-me house almost exactly matches the amount of State Pension money I should have received since my Retirement Age (but the Government has it instead...courtesy of that revised SPA). Sighs....:(:(. Note to Government time = "I do hope you are getting good value-for-money with my money"......0 -
If you are living in Wales you'll find we are a friendly lot.
That's as long as you don't do daft things like name your house 'Miner's Cottage', as someone opposite my parents did. This is in a place where almost all the houses were built for miners.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.
(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)0 -
I have indeed found people to be a friendly lot here and this is a plus side to me. Whilst I've not yet had the chance to get to many specific "social things" yet and make myself some new friends, then I've certainly found that even just going out for a walk with a smile on my face probably means I've had a couple of decent conversations before I get back home:rotfl::)
I buy into the "we help each other when needed" ethos there seems to be round here. That makes sense to me.:)
My house has got a Welsh name already. I wouldn't dream of changing it...0
