Orange Loyalty - now no deals?!
I've been with Orange for probably 7 or 8 years, and everytime my contract has expired I've gone through to th loyalty dept, told them I'm going to leave because I can get a better deal elsewhere, and they have always come up with a better deal.
This year however they are not!
I've phoned them 3 times, first time they wanted £100 for the phone I want, second time £160 and third time £200! All within 2 weeks.
I want
Samsung Galaxy S3 or HTC One X
My current contract, that I want to keep, and the phone price is based on is
£21
18months
about 300 minutes, 300 texts and 500mb.
A mate of mine has had the same. Are Orange now letting customers go rather than making any effort to retain them?
I gave my notice 2 weeks ago and had expected them to come back to me by now, but nothing!
Any ideas what the best deal for what I want is, if I have to leave?
Thanks.

The phone you want is in high demand, just like the iPhone 5 - it is also an expensive handset to source.
Based on the plan you wish to keep, they'd lose money giving you the phone for nowt, especially on 18 months. It would actually save them money to let you go.
Remember loyalty doesn't really exist anymore. Try and get a free S3 somewhere else for free based on the kind of plan you have now. You'd be laughed off the phone.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -
For every customer that leaves 5 new will come along, do you think Orange will give you a £500 phone for free for a minimum return of £378?
As Simax said, cheaper for them to let you go. Orange is a business not a charity!0 -
Orange want people on EE4G...SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe

I'd be happy to pay the first offer of £100, but any more than that and I'd be better to be a new customer as you can get 24 month One X contracts for £20.50 plus a fair whack of quidco.
Do they really pay £500 for these phones?0 -
Similar for me last year with Orange. Loyal customer since 2001 ish and I saw a good deal with Carphone Warehouse on Orange. I rang Orange to see if they would match the deal and they wouldn't.
I signed up with Carphone (via TCB), got the deal, the cashback and somehow kept my number.0 -

Actually... T-mobile (nearly?) did two days ago when I renewed
.
Phone cost - £19
18 months @ £20 = £360
Total: £379 (+ costs if I go over, which would only be if I go abroad)
600 mins
Unltd texts
750MB
Original 24 mth was somehow more expensive, I guess I hit lucky.0 -
... Are Orange now letting customers go rather than making any effort to retain them?...
Lot of companies now have a special policy (and prices) for New Customers Only!
...and this translates to the chimps on customer service departments as "Dont Need Old Customers"
Doesn't matter whether you're buying a house or a pizza, "loyalty" now means = a$$hole who will pay top price
always always go to a new company to renew because then you can access special deals/pricesWhen will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?0 -

So every year you threaten to leave, but never do.
And this year they have called your bluff.
I would expect to see a lot more of this, now Martin Lewis is shouting about how to bully companies into offering renewal deals.0 -
loyalty means nothing u dont spend alot they wont bother trying to keep you
why wouojld you pay a hundred pounds for the phone when u can leave and get it for free elsewhereWhat goes around-comes around0
