  • Hi Bailey101 - you are amazing for saving that poor baby's life. 4 weeks is so young to be separated from his mother! I can just imagine how bad his health will always be. My baby was the runt too and his brother and sister used to pick on him. He was so tiny and hardly ate. But now he's a big fat spoiled baby, and so much happier. I have heard some terrible horror stories about animal breeders. Please do give him a big hug from me.

Hello, can I just say you must keep your cat. I have a black cat, he is 7 years old and after being shot in the head is now very timid and scared. He does not like other people or animals, and can barely go outside. Your cat needs you as much as mine needs me. Focus only on how to sort out the situation, never how to end it. Life goes through bleak periods but it won't always be this bad. I'm glad you've got good news but please remember and stay focused.

Also I don.t know if anyone has mentioned this but could you speak to your local council and ask them about them letting out your property for you to council tenants, apparently they do all repairs that are required at their own costs and you could move far away to the country side or wherever your heart (and cat) desires. Cumbria is beautiful, very cheap and the closer to Carlisle the more job opportunities there are.
  • I am in Chelmsford in essex and you can buy decent semi houses for £180-200k, anything like this would leave you money left over and this isn't a particularly cheap place to live as its full of commuters. You could of course buy somewhere smaller and much cheaper. If you have good money left over you can do a lot with it, e.g. invest to provide an income.

Hi Gary, I'm also in Chelmsford .
Perhaps worth a look out in Essex Cool_Chick, a lot of us frugal-minded people out here. ;)

I am so glad you are sounding more positive, and have various options to explore. At least the world of house prices has gone bonkers in your favour!

  • Hello everyone,

Thank you all for your kind messages and advice. I am so horrified at what has happened to Wssb's cat, but I am glad that he is being well cared for now. And I have repeatedly emailed the council. No reply. And it looks like Essex is a very popular place! I will certainly think it through. It's close to the centre of London but still seems to have a good quality of life. Dunno about the accents, though!

I'm afraid I've been quiet here as I have another problem to add to the rest. The tenants downstairs have been making my life hell and I've been complaining to the Police since it got serious in August. Some of the officers are very nice people but they are very limited in what they can actually do to help. So I had them out on Thursday and Friday night. And I've been so upset.

Then I get another letter from NRAM on Saturday. They really are a joke. I emailed them around 10 questions on 25th October. They attempted to answer a few and ignored a few. 2 questions were regarding a letter which they had sent to me. Now that say they have no trace of their own letter! Unfortunately, this is typical of them. They say I must agree a "payment arrangement" with them but they refuse to tell me what this is, how I do this, or what exactly they need from me. I've emailed them twice since 25th October and am still awaiting replies. But every month, they will keep charging me crazy fees. And they have said that after 2 months of arrears they will go straight to litigation with a view to Obtain an Order for Possession. I am in my fourth month of arrears. But they won't tell me if they have started this or not. They just like to threaten. Very helpful.

So I'm still stressed even though I can see a future. I'm trying to keep my head up but it's really not easy. Please forgive me if I don't respond on here promptly. I hope you are all well.

Have just read through your thread and just wanted to add a little more support......

Shelter will help you fight NR - don't worry about them for the time being.

It also sounds like you should be able to sell your flat for a reasonable amount of money as it is a big place in a desirable area

Having lived all around the UK there are some great houses/flats in nice areas in lovely parts of the country for way less than 100k - somerset, dorset, east midlands towns (less than 1 hour to london) etc etc

Take care of you and kitty xx
