I mainly sit in my duvet on the couch! Keeps me cozy :) I do keep the heating on so I can still get up & do things. I generally find if i'm cleaning or doing something it keeps me warm.

I can cheat as being on my own I can "Go to bed!" and watch tv on my laptop or listen to the radio...and so I think why sit at a pc.

I use my PC mainly as a radio or hi-fi...or use an mp3 player.

I have a kettle or flask close to hand for hot drinks so I don't need much else.

Can anyone tell me the difference between ordinary thermals & the ski thermals that Aldi are selling this week?

I don't know...is there a rating of some kind? Many items today had that Thinsulate added...they say on my thermals don't tumble dry(But I do)and I haven't noticed any difference to them keeping me warm, it says that the ski thermals are Hydrophilic finished. Could that mean something?

They have some way of removing/reducing moisture.

Another thermal set says it keeps you cool in Summer and Warm in Winter and they are made of wool.

ski thermals should not have any cotton on them as cotton does not wick away moisture and if you are doing any sort of physical exercise such as skiing etc then you dont want cotton next to your skin

    That's true Bluebag,
There is still something about an actual book. I sometimes have an audio book playing on the PC too.;)

I'll try and stay indoors today...the snow has arrived.

Well what a great thread - not had a chance to read every reply but I do a lot of what has been mentioned so far.

Not being very mobile I do feel the cold as well - plus the cost of heating is so much these days we try not to waste it.

Anyhow some of my tips are:
    * Have a sleeping bag on the settee to snuggle under.

    * Only put heating on to just warm radiators and then switch off.

    * Try and get out on my scooter even if cold and wet. Then you feel so much warmer inside.

    * Wear vests or sleeveless t-shirts under blouses, then wear a jumper and a arge fleece on top.

    * Have fluffy slippers or boot type ones.

    * Wear leggings under trousers or jeans.

    * Use two hot water bottles in bed - one for tummy and one for feet.

    * Wear a pretty scarf or wrap in the house - keeps your neck warm and you can drape it over your head when the temperature falls.

    * Have gel hand-warmers - good to put in pockets and generaly keep you warmer - or put in your gloves when outside.

Well both I and the cat like the sleeping bag!

    Also:
    * I watch a lot of TV in bed in the evenings - so only my head to get cold.

    * Had draughty large window in bedroom but have put the stick-up double glazing (from ebay - about £6).

    * Lined my thin bedroom curtains with two fleeces from Ikea (again from ebay).

    * Have a quilt under my sheet so its extra soft and also more insulated.

    * Have quick shower instead of a bath but a rub down with a rough towel certainly warms you up.
