clothes and the cold indoors

I have hot water bottles and hot drinks if it's really cold. I have stolen my husband's fleece as it is really warm
and I usually just put that over what I'm wearing and even wear it over my pyjamas to bed.
If I have been out when it's really cold I find it's better to have a hot bath or at least change clothes when I get in as the clothes seem to trap the cold into them.
We got slightly soaked in the rain yesterday evening so we both had a bath (:o we share a bath, very :money:) and then put on our dressing gowns on and put the electric wall heater on and closed the door to the room to keep the warmth in. It really worked.:)0 -

Peacocks and Primark seem to have a decent selection but Aldi's have had some(may still be in stock)but look on their site there are loads of thermals, gloves, hats and socks coming up in the next few days and weeks. Though this Sunday it is a promotion of ski stuff again.
Thank you, I shall check aldi, got some thermal lined trousers a few weeks a go. I is a ladeee:rotfl:
I knitted a wrist warmer tonight but it came out too wide, but tight at the bottom! I wont be making the second one..0 -
How can some of you move in all those clothes?
I hate the feeling of layers, the most I can manage to be comfy in is a t shirt under a jumper. I cant bear legging or tights under trousers .
I still have the 10.5 duvet on the bed with a water bottle. the matress is filled with wool and cotton fibres which traps the heat.
a hairy Mary shirt made me laugh!0 -

I only said that in case I told you to go shopping and all that was available was Menswear. Though a lot of items would work for anyone. Some on here are just finding out that I am male
The wearing of more clothing is new to me too...if I can get to bed, I can manage as you with a duvet, hot water bottle and I have a fleece blanket between the mattress and the sheet I lie on.
Thermals are great. I need to keep my hands and feet warm, that's where I feel my coldest.

I dont like the feeling of layers either. I just wear my fleecy Disney dressing gown. It dont look very glam but at least it keeps me warm. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I cant get my hubby to wear a hat, he hates them, but we like a walk at nights and I am insisitng. He has been threatened with a pom pom.
Judi, I plan to cut down my old dressing gown to wear as a bed jacket for reading in bed . Didnt it used to be an old lady thing to have a bed jacket?0 -
I was just saying to DH last night that I think 'I'm getting old' as I was in bed with socks and fleecy pj's. I remember not feeling the cold a few years back. DH was the same, moaning about how cold it was. I've never heard him have a cold moment in all the years I've known him - he's gone to work with a t-shirt under his shirt today0

One of the best things I have found for keeping my feet warm are sheepskin slippers.
You don't wear them with socks (make your feet sweat and slippers stink) - just bare feet - and they don't make your feet hot just a normal temperature - and they work in winter or summer.
They weren't cheap but they certainly are effective.
Other than that - a tshirt with a wool jumper and I have waistcoat that covers my lower back and bum - that's warm too.
Electric blanket on the bed....bliss. I have been known to fall asleep with it on the highest setting and wake up about 3 in the morning absolutely roasting.0 -

To some extent that could be true but if you are having to watch what you spend regarding CH, I think anyone of any age could find themselves feeling the cold.
My utility company have told me to use the CH! Still has to be paid for.
Under the new energy policy our annual bills are going up annually by £100 for the next 8 years...

We used to keep each other warm in bed - my icy feet on his legs....
We used to a have a double bed and it was quite cosy and the body heat from one kept the other warm....not a pair of pyjamas between us.
About 3 years ago we got rid of our double bed and bought one those adjustable beds, it's got 2 single mattresses in a frame and each side has a handset to raise or lower the top and/or bottom of the mattress - marvelous.
The bed is super king size - I won't go into detail about the performance changing the duvet cover....
However, it's like having a wasteland between us in bed now it's so big and we no longer keep each other warm.
So we both have electric blankets and I have some pj's now. But the lack of body heat is more than made up for by having a peaceful night's sleep - OH can toss and turn all he likes and he doesn't disturb me.0
