What do you mean by the test socket, its already plugged into the master main socket?

As I explained earlier, the socket that is revealed when you unscrew your master socket and remove the faceplate is called the test socket. Please unscrew your master telephone socket and remove the faceplate, then plug your micro filter into the socket that is revealed. Then proceed to turn off your router for 30 seconds, then on again.

    Thanks,
    Xplozion.

If the internet light is solid amber it indicates that the link with the exchange has been established, however it has not logged into the network.
    Probably a service issue.
Either ring Sky to check or, check Sky's service page.

PS, The purpose of using the test socket is to eliminate any faults due to faulty extension wiring.
PPS If you can't access the reset button on the router turning it off and on again should do the trick.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Now I only have 2 solid green lights, 1 is for power and the other is for the tick??
  • Good luck with this. Similar issues for almost two weeks now. Established that it is a fault at the BT junction box further up the estate. Several streets without home phone or Internet. BT won't talk to Sky customers and Sky have been absolutely no use whatsoever since reporting via their online reporting on 17th October despite their commitment to reply within 48 hrs. To be honest BT and Sky are two of the most incompetent companies I've ever dealt with, though Virginia run them close. Just lodged a formal complaint and cancelled my dd. I'm sure their communication will improve once they are owed money.

You can remedy this situation very easily by dealing with Orange/EE. Sky and BT will no longer be at the top of your list.

    Ok,

Of course this is your decision but the next step after trying the test socket would be to report this as a fault to Sky. Sky then pass this onto BT Openreach (this is BT's technical company, they are the guys in the vans who repair things). If BTO find that the fault is to do with your wiring, which can be proven guilty using the test socket, they may charge you a fine in excess of £100. Basically, the test socket isolates your wiring and goes directly into BT's network. I'd strongly advise giving it a try before possibly being hit with a huge charge. Let me know how it goes.

PS: if your connection works when plugged into the test socket, all you probably need is a new master socket.

    Thanks,
    Xplozion

The hell are you on about BT Openreach dishing out fines for??
