finally found some glue dots and have stuck santa in place. Its a 99p store one but i ain't eating it lol

I used 4 finger kit kat, lidl hazelnut wafer chocolate bar, turkish delight bar, tic tacs, milky bar at the back, candy canes and a chocolate santa.

Thanks Maysie! Will certainly make some of these but swop Turkish delight and hazelnut wafer as I know some of the children have nut allergies. Got 20 to make!! Better start scouring around........!

Last years Snowman soup was a hit as were the cupcake flannels. Thanks everyone for all the ideas. Super as always :T:T.
  • I have lots of lovely little charms suitable for putting on a chain for little girls. Anyone any idea where to get "very cheap" chains. I did try looking on EBay but wasn't sure what to type in.

Also looking for the keys to make "Santas Keys". Love the ones they sell all made up with Santa Heads but can't find them for love nor money. Thanks in advance.

I have made a start for the School Christmas Shopping Night which is in 16 days time. Best get a move on though. So far have made about 60 cones full of reindeer food.
    If I had known then what I know now . . .
:A Official Boots Tart (I seem to be retired just now though) :A
  • Hi everyone, im making family members sharpie mugs and making them into not cocolate kits or coffee kits.

just need as cheap a mug as poss (something from the pound shop)
    sharpie pens

draw on the design and leave to dry (overnight if poss)
put in oven and set temp to about 150C
leave in over for around 30 mins
turn off oven and leave to go completely cold.

they may not be dishwasher safe but ok for hand washing as long as you dont scrub the design off.

I'm going to make felted soaps this year. Like these ones http://rosiepink.typepad.co.uk/rosiepink/how-to-make-felted-soaps-and-pebbles.html. Bits of net curtain work just as well for the shaping. Never done felt making before, but it sounds quite simple from all the instructions for these you can find on-line. It's even recommended as a kids craft activity, so can't be too hard. These might be my famous last words though - i'll come back with photos of my monstrocities.

I've ordered the wool tops and they've cost me £12.50 including postage for 300g. Seems you need about 5g per soap, but assuming I'll be a bit rubbish I'm allowing 10g, so they should cover 30 soaps. Enough for all family and friends plus a little something for my work colleagues. Packs of 5 soaps from poundshop = £6 on soap. Will tie up with gold cord leftover from last Christmas and make a label. Total cost £18.50 - or 61p each.

They cost a fiver or more to buy readymade and they are still unusual at the moment. The idea is that they are soap and scrubber in all one. I think they look really nice (even the deformed blobby ones made by kids you see photos of on-line) and I don't think you need any real talent to make them, which is just as well for me.

Do let us know how you get on. I am making felted acorns and wondered about doing some soaps as I have the wool. 5g isn't very much so I might give it a try later.
