Well, i didn't repot the sunflowers yesterday. A) i didn't have the energy and b) i decided to wait until the few stragglers have two leaves on them. Most of the seedlings have two leaves on them.
I think i'm warming to sunflowers, nl. A ready made sc repellent plant? I had no idea. :rotfl: I'm liking
I think the sweet peas are almost ready to be pinched out, as there are signs of growth from the 'bottoms.' Not sure how to do this, ( no, i didn't last year.) I also need some more canes.
The good news of the day is - The sun had his hat on yesterday, and thawed the ice box which contains Ms prim rose and ula, who went for a stroll in the fresh air followed by a spot of relaxation and sunbathing. Does wonders for the soul? Shame about Ms rose who were beheaded the other day. Who would do a thing like that?Off with their heads i say, off with their heads?
Still plenty of the white stuff about, although Ms crocus and Master daff, are starting to poke their noses out of hibernation, for a sniff of fresh air. Very fresh air.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

:j:j:j:jto sunflowers in elephant poo! I saw some dark red sunflower seeds, but managed not to buy them, not sure how I found the will power!
Brilliant idea of the spoon for the poached egg plants NorthernLas I wish I'd thought of that!
I too have seedlings and plantlets everywhere, not to mention the pot plants I've brought in from the garden. Luckily I have an unheated porch, although it is becoming a type of gymnastic endeavour to get in and out the door :rotfl:
I have already pinched out my sweetpeas ani, the bushier the better I think. If there's growth at the bottom then you can safely nip the growing points off.
There are still quite a few seeds waiting to germinate, it's too cold for them I think. The Verbena bonariensis is still dormant as is the cosmos. They'll appear when it warms up.
I've been given seeds of foxgloves, canterbury bells, lavender and sweet william. I'm going to wait to sow them outside ready for the following summer. I'll have to make a nursery bed or obtain a cold frameTotal debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

WARNING: Step away from the constant sales and free p&p ... far too easy to buy stuff
I have looked at my seed stash and have enough to keep me going so no garden centre trips for me this weekend.
Yeah cos like that was going to happen. I spent about a tenner, got loads............am now buying pruning things from E bay!

Ah that's how I got my tree peonyAll the special offers are so tempting and once in a while one comes through that just has to be bought
I've been painting tin cans today and decorating the edge with braid. Once dry I will seal them, paint the names of herbs on and eventually put them in the garden. They look surprisingly nice and more importantly, don't cost anything to do.
With the tins in mind I have sown basil, garlic chives and parsley seeds today.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Rather than send you the foxglove, canterbury bell and sweet william seeds, I will grow them on and send them to you in the autumn for planting out for next year's flowers!Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

I have a voucher for a free pair of heavy duty pruners, only £2.70 p & p, which i think sounds very reasonable? Reasonable enough for me to splash out and part with £2.70 p & p. :rotfl:
Let me know if anyone would like a pair and i'll see if i can get some more vouchers, (it's a local offer.)
As for the quality of the pruners, one can only speculate until seen. I've spent similar amounts of money on gardening tools which fell apart the first time you used them.
However, i have to say, the slimey critter tool which cost £1, was still going strong.
With a bit of luck the sc's will have frozen to death? I doubt it. They'll be buried as snug as a slug in a rug.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?
