Wow. You do have food right?

    I would be scared.

    Please take care xxx

I do have food thanks, Buffy. xx

I didn't make any specific contingency plans this time, as i thought it would be short lived, but i don't think anyone could have predicted the snow being as bad as this. More specifically, it's the winds which have caused the drifting. There are still icicles hanging from buildings and even cars, despite some sunshine yesterday. Yep, the icicles are still there, this morning. It must be blimmin cold.

You expect bad weather around here. It's par for the course. The bad weather only hits the news when it hits other parts of the country. :rotfl:

Another day indoors for me today, but i have to go out on wednesday.

Your roses will need pruning, and you'll have a magnificent display? When i prune my roses, is weather dependant, so don't ask me when. :D

The trouble with life is, we all spend our lives saying 'i don't have time to do this?' But do we? If you have been sitting feeling bleurgh, why not spend some time gardening in that 'bleurgh' time? Even indoor gardening, sowing seeds takes very little effort, and the rewards are immense?

You can purchase seeds very cheaply from the likes of ald*, wilkos, etc ( around 30p a packet.) Everywhere has offers on seeds. Buy a large bag of compost, ( you can buy two for a fiver from morries,) and use anything you can lay your hands on, to sow them in. All that packaging you send to be recycled? can also be recycled for gardening. Piquant is even using tins and egg boxes. It doesn't cost much in terms of money, but the benefits, well, you'd be amazed, even if you hate gardening, like i do. :rotfl::rotfl:

Looks like i'll have to water everything again today, and the sters columbine have now started to shoot. :)

I know. Stooopid, or what? The sc's tore them to shreds last year. Literally. :( Ne'er mind. I WANT SOME LUPINS. :rotfl:I have put them in large pots, and i may just decide to leave them in the pots on the patio, where it's easier to maintain sc patrol. I'm not going to be able to move on the patio, at this rate. Posh, innit, having a patio? Especially in social housing. :rotfl:

The bad news is - the flower fell off your cactus, yesterday. The good news is - the cutting hasn't completely passed away. Yet.

Talking of cactus, it's almost easter, AND, i hadn't noticed i have some flowers on the easter cactus, (largely because it's in residence on the floor.) Isn't it just a tiny bit exciting, the anticipation of what the flowers will look like?

Something like, this :- (only several shades darker.)

So here we have Mr easter cactus.

In other news, i did considerable, (for me,) indoor gardening, yesterday. Namely watering all my plants and seedlings. Gosh, it's exhausting. Must keep up to speed with this job, as it occurred to me, who will look after my plants whilst i go into hospital? I thought it was going to be sooner rather than later, yesterday, but i've decided i should be prepared for the unexpected, first. Blimmin plants need watering again, today. It's a daily task. I shall lose all my plants? :(

The double freesia are sprouting now, too. I think that's everything except the petunia seeds. Swin*s they are? Next door to the radiator, too. Luxury accommodation. What more could they ask for?

Looks like the snow has set in again today. Not going to be going anywhere, again. Well, no plans to go anywhere. I'll be getting cabin fever, soon. I need some fresh air. I'm also going to get bored of lentils. :rotfl: Keep forgetting to soak my black peas. I should do that now, whilst i'm thinking of it. Somehow, i don't think i'm going to get to my appointment, tomorrow.

Pah. It's just a blanket of snow, outside. Strictly speaking, it's not snow. It's all turned to ice. It's going to be a long time before it thaws. I shall have to try and get out, at some point. It's the farmers i feel for. The amount of sheep and lambs which have been buried alive in the snow. Unbelievable.

Gosh, an estimated 10,000 sheep perished in the snowdrifts? That's an awful loss of sheep, when farmers are already struggling. :(

    An astonishing natural disaster.

Every time I read your diary I think about my garden..........only think about mind, nothing serious as yet!!

    xxx

    Hi Buffy

Gardening mends the soul. Well, that's what I think!

Rather than tackle the whole garden, why not have a couple of pots by a seat, filled with scented plants. Guaranteed to lift your spirits on a warm summer evening, remember those??

I chucked some night scented stocks into an empty plastic tomato tray and they're growing like wildfire already. Lavender's always lovely too.

I'll have plenty of little plants by May I can send you some if you like.

It's bad for the farmers, not to mention the poor sheep. The weather will impact the sowing of crops too. Very bad for the farmers indeed.

I've been sowing herbs in takeaway coffee cups. All lined up on a bedroom window sill. I'm fast running out of places to put my plants. The lobby is full of the plants I bought in from the garden, I was afraid the cold would kill them.

The exciting news is that I've rehomed a potting bench. It's in need of sanding and painting, but other than that it's a solid piece of furniture. I'm going to make it the weekend project. It's not like I can get out in the garden :(
