Quick flying visit, just in and grandchildren are after the laptop.

If anyone is still after cheap cinema tickets from the Sweet Sunday chocolate pouches (minstrals, planets, counters etc) Poundland have them.

We have just bought 16 packs (4 codes for each ticket) and guy at till gave me a voucher for £1.00 off a spend over £10.00. So 4 tickets (going to book Madagascar 3) and 16 pkts of chocs for £15.00!

Worth checking your local Poundland to see if there are any Sweet Sunday pouches hanging up with other chocs.

She also bought a diary that I am supposed to write down everything I spend from her account. She started using it when she was looking after Mum last week and I looked in it when she left and just laughed. All she wrote was where she drew out money , then wrote Tesco or Lidl each day then put that £10.00 was in Mum's purse. Mum quite often puts money in her apron and I was also told to stop her doing it and I just said its her money she can do what
    she likes with it.
Mum got Sky in June and does not use it much as she is not used to it yet but it is cheaper for her to have Sky tv, Broadband and phone than the Talk Talk phone package she had before. So as Mum does not use it much my sis suggested I hide the ordinary tv remote so she would have to use the Sky as that would be the only remote she had.
You could not make it up.

I wouldn't know whether to laugh or cry. At times like these, I do like to believe that karma will have it's say one day.

Unfortunately these situations are all too common amongst families. I dread the time that I have to deal with this as my siblings and I couldn't be more different, needless to say we never speak.

At least you should be able to take comfort from the fact that you are doing your best for your mum, at that you have her best interests at heart. (I think continuing with the power of attorny is a very good idea. Your brothers and sisters don't need to know, only your mum has to agree.) I'd also suggest sooner rather than later, we had a problem in our family because we left it too late and then the person in question wasn't deemed of sound enough mind. (I'm not for one minute suggesting that your mum will go the same way, but we never know what's around the corner.)

Take care of yourself Rose. :A:A:A

  • Afternoon all,

Just getting round to watching Extreme Couponing and all I can say is OMG! I don't think even knowing how much money I could save I could cope with my house looking like a shop the way some of these guys do. A small store in the cellar yes, but the whole house maybe not...

your family are the strangest bunch ive ever known.

You need to tell your pathetic brother to froff off for a start, pay his own debts back the sponging div

your mum is more important than your brothers and sisters pockets being lined what a selfish bunch of nobodies.

Yesterday was probably the first time I had said more than 5 words to him in about 6 months ( including Sunday when we all had lunch at Mum's - I would not have gone if I had known he would be there) and will probably be the last in a long while. The reason he blanks me is everyone was complaining about him having all the money and I wrote him a letter about his behaviour that the others were supposed to sign but they backed out at the last minute. So I am a bit of a pariah to him ( is that the right thing to say?).
I mean what sort of person leaves his elderly parents with a massive mortgage created to save his business and then builds a swanky house for himself with the profit from sale of his property instead of paying them back. I know who has more morals and it is not him.
