Have not been entering comps for very long but voted to have stickies as I thought it sounded like a lot of work. I am already extremely appreciative of all those who post comps and the board guides for all the work they do. Whatever the outcome - thanks to all who post on here and I hope everyone manages to get their share of wins, particularly those who do all the hard work!!
September Wins : One Direction posters, Kappa Football.

I'll probably regret this come December 1st, but I don't mind giving the Advent thread a go if no one else wants to do it?

It probably wouldn't be anything fancy as I know how insane the Advents get and I probably wouldn't have the time, it would likely just be end dates, website name and the links with the new ones added to the top of each section as and when I got around to it, which for the first few days I'd try and make sure was at least every couple of hours, but might drop off to once a day when it calms down until the 12 days ones start and the same again, but if everyone's ok with that then I'd give it a go?

Obviously it's going to be hard to predict how many Advents there will be from year to year and if it's worse than previous years then I may struggle to keep up and might need a lot of help, but the offers there. :)

Went away for a few days & despite paying for internet access it wouldn't work.
Bargainhuntergal you're an :A, if I can be of help in any way feel free to ask xx
I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

    Hiya,

Sorry to be a boob but are Advent comps Instant Wins? Or are they enter your details for each day? I figure the more mentally prepped i am, the better! :p

    Thanks a lot :)

They are not instant wins, but the majority have a daily prize to be won. It may be the same prize every day but 1 person a day wins e.g. there was a daily kindle comp a few of us won. Or it may be a different prize every day with 1 winner, Barclaycard had a fab one on facebook last year which a few of us MSE'rs won.
So most do need to be entered every day, also some have time limits, you have to enter by a certain time each day, some also have claim time limits, the Barclaycard one had fab prizes but you had to respond to the winning email within 2 hours (unlike some promoters they did telephone to say you had won & to look out for and to respond to the email)

As Becky says, they're a mixed bag, as with normal competitions. The only thing they have in common is that you enter once a day, and they run through December (usually up to the 24th, but not always), with a Christmas/advent theme! Some of them won't even be daily - some are weekdays only, some have offers some days instead of prizes. It's all different companies, so they can of course do what they like.

Bargainhuntergirl, you are an absolute star, thanks for volunteering to take this on :T and good luck with the massive task! May the comping fairy sprinkle you with winning dust :A
  • I have kept out of this discussion as I couldnt offer to help as I do not spend a lot of regular time on here I can only get on when health lets me. I would like to say thank you too to Bargainhuntergal as this is an enormous task and it is so good of her to do it.

Thanks to all posters you are:A
  • I'm not sure when I should start the thread, it seems weird to be thinking about starting an Advent thread in October :o :rotfl:

I think I've seen one that could be an advent that's on the dailies for now (doesn't start until December from what I can remember - Manchester Arndale I think it was) but I'm not up to date yet at all, I'll be using November to do that so that I can have a clear run at doing the Advents without having too many others to do each day!

If anyone spots any others let me know and I'll set the thread up, I'll probably try and reserve at least the first 10 posts in the thread, I think fnc had the first 8 posts last year  but just in case it's worse this year, I'll make sure I have enough to add them all in :D :j

I always do the Advents, so to be honest, doing the thread will probably help me as well anyway! :D
