Seperate stickies for FB, TW, Email & WebYou all know me enough by now to know I keep coming up with dopey ideas, well here is one more to add to the pot.
For me, I probably won't make much use of an advent thread, because I have my own dailies template that I add to as I'm trawling through the main comps board. What if, instead of having someone sacrifice so much time to run the whole thing, peeps did the same as me and each made up their own dailies document?
It's so easy. When I see a daily comp I want to do, I copy and paste the thread title, the MSE thread link and the comp link. I put them in date order, cos I'm a bit OCD like that, then every day I just work through my own list - simples!
We could still have an advent thread, perhaps in Comp Chat Corner, to chat about all the advents, but all the comps would be posted in the normal way in the main comp board.
I do similar, but I get my new daily comps from the new posts in the daily thread as Im a end date comper (haven't managed to catch up with new posts and I dont have a lot of time). I thank each post so I know where Ive got to. I never ever look at the first few posts.
Perhaps we could have an advent thread, but instead of one person updating the first couple of threads just leave people to add a link to their main comp post. People could thank each post where they get up to so they know where they are the next day. Then again I do realise this might not be to everyone's taste as people dont like to spend a second making note of a comp as it ruins precious comping time. Though it is what I would personally like TBH.Current Aims: Laptop/PC, decent money, holiday
Best Wins: Ipad, Nintendo 3DS, £400 Shopping Spree at LK Bennett, £100 Boots vouchers
Total Wins (Since April 2012) £3442.56
Big thanks to all who post comps :T:beer:0 -
Seperate stickies for FB, TW, Email & WebI do think an advent thread would be good, it is just a huuuuge job for the person who does it. I would do it but doubt I would have enough time as would want to be entering as many as I can*Katie*

Was so up to date last year, had the advent thread open all day, did my dailies every day and was totally up to date with the main board as they were being added.
For the life of me cannot catch up now, am currently doing tomorrows!
I appreciate we cannot have separate stickies even though it is the most voted for, and it would only be for the advent period. I am not able to volunteer for all advents, and I know when Bonnie and I tried to start a Flash Twitter Comp post in January, it was closed within about an hour.
Twitter comps are either Twitter comps or they're not, are not like the FB ones where sometimes FB is compulsary and sometimes it's not, so the BG's would need to be PM'd to move them.
I would like to contribute this year, could we not have a Twitter post for Advents as we are not allowed a sticky? Am happy to take control of it, yes it would be bumped as people contributed, but it says Twitter in title so those that don't use Twitter could avoid it, and it would somewhat ease the pressure on the poor soul that volunteers to do all the other advents. They could have a big red sentence at the top of the post to post all twitter comps on www. whatever!I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

1 person does all ( seriously harsh)You all know me enough by now to know I keep coming up with dopey ideas, well here is one more to add to the pot.

If they were posted in the normal way they would all still be added to the dailies though so then the daily thread would end up being the advent thread anyway just with whoever does the daily thread having to be the one to add them instead (not sure who does the daily thread but not sure they would do it if they realised they'd have all the advents too!)
If someone volunteers to do it then great. If not then I guess we won't have one and that's about it. It doesn't really matter what we would like if no one is willing to do it. I could do it from 3rd December onwards so if there still isn't a thread by then then I'll happily set one up.
I'm not sure what is meant by the index-type sticky though?2008: £783.12 - 2009: £6,401.15 - 2010: £4,230.61 - 2011: £8720 - 2012: £2,041.89
2013: £134.960 -
Seperate stickies for FB, TW, Email & WebYes we need an advent thread, splitting it up to make it easier was a good suggestion, however will that create more work between people organising them in each section?
Last years was done so well, it really was utterly fantastic.
It made December for me. Thank you Fnc63Wishing you all good luck!

I'll probably regret this come December 1st, but I don't mind giving the Advent thread a go if no one else wants to do it?
It probably wouldn't be anything fancy as I know how insane the Advents get and I probably wouldn't have the time, it would likely just be end dates, website name and the links with the new ones added to the top of each section as and when I got around to it, which for the first few days I'd try and make sure was at least every couple of hours, but might drop off to once a day when it calms down until the 12 days ones start and the same again, but if everyone's ok with that then I'd give it a go?
Obviously it's going to be hard to predict how many Advents there will be from year to year and if it's worse than previous years then I may struggle to keep up and might need a lot of help, but the offers there.0 -
