Data costs on an OVP tarriff?

For data, a few weeks ago I bought a T-Mobile PAYG Sim (bought because I had to put £10 credit on it), but it gave me 12 months free Internet, its an iPhone plan, but I'm using it in an iPad, so that's 12 months Internet for £10.
http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/sim-only/?fullsite=1
Think there is an option for some free Text or Mins if you Top-up 'X' amount per month, but since its in an iPad that doesn't effect me.
I also have 2 of the Non Expiring PAYG Vodafone Data Sims, cost £15 per 1GB but it doesn't expire after 30 days, in fact I've never topup yet, still have £7.50 credit on one sim and £3 on the other, both are now a few years old.0 -
Thanks Chorlie, I'll need to check the payg rates for both them T-Mobile/Voda sims. The huy in Orange told me to take a new sim and not replace OVP and I didnt listen DOH !
Orange OVP would be better though & would work better as I have Orange magic numbers, but trying to source someone not using them and willing to transfer are TWO big issues lol.
Incase it never happens or until the time it does, cutting costs to max in MSE style is still the way to go !
T-Mobile plan is good for internet, cheapest calls are 25p and 12p texts on payg Talk plan for anyone interested in the sim deal Chorle posted, or else these alternative payg plans with free 12 month iphone data are available: http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/sim-only/ calling rates for them at bottom of page on a pop up link
PAYG BOOSTERS (bolton/bundles) here http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/mobile-phones/price-plans/pay-as-you-go/boosters/
NOW if Ofcom enforced EE to apply same network calls between T-Mobile & Orange instead of EE's ability to only do this as a EE promotion as U24 I would be happy indeed but Ofcom is crap & I'd hate to be under 24 again...MEH to Ofcon & EE !!!
Do you know the Voda sims & call rates are available Chorlie as I could not find them ?SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe

Stuart do you have your old OV P sim active ? or did you PAC number to Co-op, have a 3 broadband casual for sat nav. but 3-3 calls are 20p a minute !!
I'm afraid I PACed over to Co-op so old OVP SIM not active.
The 3 zero SIM is the only other no-line-rental billed account that I'm aware of, but as you say it's 20p per min so rather steep.
Vectone do offer a £1/month contract SIM, which includes a mix-and-match allowance of any combination of 50 minutes/texts/megabytes with run on rates being 5p/min landline, 15p/min mobile, 10p/text and £1/day for upto 500MB. Not brilliant if you may stray over the allowance and occassionally use a little bit of data.
I prefer Co-op's simple 7p tariff - 7p a min, 7p a MB and 7p a text for 7p a day. Not best value for most, but when there is only a 1.2p minimum call charge, it has definitely ended up being good overall value for me when the total cost over a whole year is considered. It's just a bit odd that my typical monthly bill of around £3 is made up of £2 for nothing! On the odd occassion that I have used it a more heavily, it's great not to be ripped off.
I think I'd rather pay £24/year in order to have a phone I can use at a reasonable cost whenever I need to for as much as I need to, rather than perhaps ending up paying £24 for one long unexpected phone call due to high rates, whilst also avoiding a high monthly charge for something I don't end up using. I think it's more of a piece of mind thing rather than necessarily a money saving thing.0 -

The Vodafone Sim was a Data Only Sim (put in a Dongle), the cost was £15 for 1GB, which isn't cheap but its the fact it didn't expire that appealed to low data users, because over a 12 month period it could workout a lot cheaper.
They were only on sale for a few month before Vodafone changed the plan to £10 for 1GB but it expired after 30 days.
They were on sale for about 12 months after Vodafone changed the plan on eBay, but I haven't seen any for about 12 months and even then they was going for stupid money.

It by no means the most expensive, but still...
Vectone, oh I have 1 of them sims unopened in a packet but that offer was not available at the time or on the sim packet, I wonder if the sim is still valid, 50 combo mins/texts/mb for £1 looks like the one, mainly data use for sat nav, call or text is just one unit as I would call them back so that leaves a good few units for data per month at £1
£24 a year...I'm currently the last few years £100 minimum per year so thats a 75% minimum cost reduction & even beats the FREE 12 month payg T-Mobile data as the call rates are high !
Co-op is a very good deal if you are prepared to spend a minimum £2 for nothing, Vectone on the other hand seems a better deal for light users ! Are you sure Vectone does not work out cheaper for you Stuart ??
Vectone are Voda reseller, Co-op are 3 (or was).SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe

Even if they were available compared to Vectone and if non data use was available (my orange business data sim would not do calls/texts) I bet the non data charging rates are/were expensive from Vodafone direct ! lol.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... Got one of those a few months back (Data Only), when it cost a one off fee for a SIM card of £5 and you got 1GB a month free, they dropped it down to 500Mb a few weeks ago. At the same time they dropped the mins & text package down to 50mins & 50text 100Mb data, but I had an email from them yesterday stating they had increased this to 100mins, 100text & 200Mb (it used to be 200mins, 200text and 500Mb, before they reduced it a few weeks ago).0 -
She is on the OVP/VM tarriff - does anyone know what the data rates are for this tarriff?... found OVP tariffs are not available to 3G customersI wouldn't just put the sim in a go. I'd think you'd have to ditch it and get a new plan that has data included.GPRS data is avail on OVP, just not 3G speed data, ie they will not issue 3G sims on OVP ...I *think* that I'm going to swap the contract to a sim only 'dolphin 7'
£7 per month for 150 minutes, 250MB data and 500 texts
Unless anyone can find me anything better. (less texts and more data?)Orange just sent me an 3G SIM card with the new phone and advised the £5 month 500MB bolt on which I accepted all on OVP monthly terms.
Gosh, lots of interesting advice here!... the folks from Orange 'live chat' or whatever it's called told me that ...
00:09:20 Kyle : The data charges are £3.06 per mb.
I'm on the OVP(VM) package and have 3G data - 500 Mb per month for £5. I simply went into My Account at orange.co.uk and added the data bundle.
Theoretically, I should have received a text message with the settings but I didn't. I checked my account online the next day and saw that the package had been added. I looked up the settings on the Orange website and adjusted the phone settings. Bingo!
The first month is pro-rated, which explains why I only had 433.33 Mb left of my allowance.
I don't make many voice calls on my mobile and am interested in data. I like the OVP's no minimum charge, so a call which is answered by voicemail only costs £0.01-ish if I don't leave a message.
I have 500 Mb a month, which should be enough. If not, I'll cancel the data bundle and go for Virgin's Big Data and Text PAYG plan £10 a month - unlimited data and £10-worth of calls (@26p/minute).0
