  • Good day today in not spending...took in my first pre-made and frozen sandwich today...the result it tasted just as good as the one's I make fresh. Happy with that, so I am freezing all the way.

Girlfriends mum made me a roast tonight after work, and on the way back the GF needed to get some milk from mini tesco...loaf of bread (top brand) was reduced to 14p..bought it will pop to aldi in morning get some meat...lunches for 2 weeks plus!

Failed to win the UK lotto last night, but only spent 45p all day today...saving me about £4!

Read more of this forum...and going to join top cash back tomorrow to do some of the £10 deals. If anyone wants to refer me to top cash back let me know.

My new website is yet to make any money from Google adsense, but I know that will happen sooner or later.

Bit of a rush update today..but the saving is going well..and on my days off, I am going to play making some money on cash back sites, and a few other ideas.

  • Had a big argument with my bank today....I have never used my agreed OD, since I was born.

Shock horror the one time I do not check my internet banking and my account goes £4 into my agreed OD for 5 days..my bank wanted to charge me £5 for the benefit of using my account.

Went into the bank and was told there is " no possible way to get the charges waived" by the bank manager

Even when I pointed out no charges ever, never used OD they still were not having it.

Even when I said "are the ????? bank, prepared to lose all my future business, and mortgage renewal for £5" they still said no to waiving as a one off good will gesture.

It was only when I pointed out that the charge is 125% interest in 4 days and that makes them worse than wonga...did they agree to waive the £5 as a one off good will gesture!

Still a few minutes of being polite but stern and I saved myself £5

  • Nice surprise today...I wrote to my bank to complain about something a week ago. Forgot all about it, today got a letter saying they will give me £50.

I am going to put that £50 straight into the mortgage, as it would be money I didn't have before.

Not sure how much difference £50 would make to the mortgage but it bound to help.

Stupidly bought two euromillions tickets for tonight though. Doh!

  • Well it's now month 7 of my mortgage and so far my overpayments total £4,243.00

Which I think is not bad, but it's starting to get hard doing the payments each month.

I nearly took a month off last month, but gave in and over paid anyway.

Is there anything anyone does, when you struggle to make the overpayment to perk you up?

Is there anything anyone does, when you struggle to make the overpayment to perk you up?

Is it just the motivation you're lacking or the finances getting tight?

I find just number crunching with on overpayment calculator usually keeps me motivated when I see all the money I'm going to save on interest payments.

Could you set up a standing order for your ops? That way you know the money will be gone unless you change it. Makes it easier for me anyway. Then I just make an extra op if there's any spare.

You could join one of the overpayment challenges on the forum. They're good for keeping up morale.

I agree with all Voucherman's suggestions :T. Also little and often helps keep my motivation up.

What is making you struggle do you think? Is it that you can't see a tangible result, or have you maybe economised too much? Remember to find a balance, life goes on so don't deprive yourself of everything.
