  • My mum always used to make and freeze sandwiches for my dad's packed lunch. 1 loaf of bread with corned beef & pickle and 1 loaf with ham & cheese at a time. He would take them out of the freezer first thing and they were defrosted by lunchtime.

My mum used to do cheese and it never harmed us. We have frozen sliced stuff from supermarkets and leftover roast meat too. It really is the only way for us as we are up and out in the mornings.

I think this is easily the top tip of the 2012 for me so far.

And wow this thread has only been live about three days!

This could save me oodles of money and time.

So basically, by a loaf of bread or baps.make sandwhiches and freeze them.

Wow wow, so sad that I impressed by this but yipeeee

Alternatively, if you cook at night, make enough so you can have leftovers the next day (or freeze so you can rotate and take something different).

Yes you can freeze cheese :D.

Ah, I have always done this...cooked a big batch of say Spag Bowl source, and then frozen what is left over.

I have often wondered...can you cook lots of pasta and then put it in a tub add the sauce on top and freeze it as one? Then shove it in the microwave when you want to eat it??

Aldi do really affordable rolls if you have one near you. We get a variety so we don't get too bored.

Yup an Aldi and a Lidil, spoilt for choice.

I do like to do salads too, so I tend to make 2-3 salads at once.

Hmm but loving the frozen sandwich idea.

    Yup, you sure can :)

+1 for Lidl wholemeal rolls - almost always at 45p for a packet of 6 :)
  • Today was a bit better...took in a pack lunch today...although did waste a £1 on chocolate!!

Gonna try freezing some sarnies tonight, so I have a job lot as suggest by fellow MFW's.

I bought some freezer bags, but the ones I did buy were big ones. Either way I will still use them...and have 170 to use!

Hoping for a nice lottery win tonight- £70 million would be nice!

  • Also big thanks to GallyGirl who has sent me a funky spreadsheet.

Not had chance to look at it yet, but will do tonight.
