It depends if you want a negative feedback or not but i wouldn`t pay

    Buyers can’t get negative feedback
  • I must confess that on one or two occasions when I've noticed that the seller has lost out on his p&p calculation, I have offered to pay extra towards it but never been taken up on it. But I would never ask a buyer to pay up.
  • I lost out bigtime when I sold a set of books to a bidder in Australia. I forgot to change the international postage price so they paid postage of £5 i think and it cost me £15 to post! My own mistake for not checking my auction, and i would assume the Australian bidder only bidded because of the cheap postage. As the others say, its a learning curve

I ignored the first email and today I had another email asking for payment for postage. Ive copied and pasted the emails below!

    Email received today

    "hello

i have contacted you regarding the poistage on your item, please pay the additional amount required which is £3.80.

    Thank you

    Laura "

    My Reply

"I paid for the item including postage as advertised. Not prepared to pay anymore. Ive made mistakes with working out postage costs in the past and wouldnt dream of asking my buyers for extra money.so now I always weigh everything, and check on royal mail webiste prior to listing.
    Regards Shelley"

    Next email received

    "hello
unfortunately im going to take this to ebay then, as you said you have made mistakes prior i would expect some understanding.

:rotfl:Im going to leave it now

I assume she's already posted the item off to you?

She must really want a negative feedback lol. You should have mentioned that you'd already paid more than you wanted so if she'd like to send you the £3.20 that she owes you, you won't take it to ebay ;)

I`m not sure what the seller thinks ebay are going to do? Seller will be told that you have paid all the advertised price including costs and that they can`t/shouldn`t be adding any more to the price.

Yes received the item yesterday :) If they had asked for the extra postage before sending the item to me I would have asked them to cancel the transaction.

I havnt heard anything from ebay yet, Ive got over 1300 100% positive feedback so not too worried
  • I would imagine she will get little sympathy from Ebay!

There is a little thing in law about charging for things. Consideration Before The Fact. This means that if you are going to charge for something you have to state the price before that service (or goods etc) is given. You cannot turn around afterwards and say that will be X.

Wow, ice_babe, the seller was either trying to pull something over on you, or they're incredibly naive. And now they're taking it to customer support! I don't their ebay account will last much longer.
  • I'd like to think that eBay's customer support might educate this misguided seller, but if she does complain to eBay, they'll probably just send a waffling generic reply which leaves her as clueless as before.
