wasn't too bad, my weekly shop took twice as long tho! but i think i filled it in right.

Do you get a conformation back to say they got it/were happy with it? (was with grassroots)

  • Just a friendly reminder to you new folks to make sure you keep a record of all jobs you do, including what you spend and what you get back and mileage. Keep all your receipts and paperwork, too. Otherwise, you could find yourself in a bit of a pickle come self assessment time. You should all have registered as self employed by now.

Oh and you need to fill in that report - just make sure you state exactly what happened. When they ask for a description of the driver you just say your delivery never turned up as it was cancelled by the branch - even if you have to keep repeating it. If you're not sure, ask Becles as she seems to be very experienced at this stuff....better still, call grassroots and tell them what happened and ask their advice!

    :D
ok thanks hon, just not sure if there's space on the questionnaire to write about my non-delivery! i'll have to have another look.

Sorry I can't help with the pizza non-delivery.

As I live in the middle of nowhere, none of the chain pizza shops deliver here so I've never taken one of their jobs.
Here I go again on my own....

If you are working on a self employed basis - then yes! Grassroots, Gap and Retail Eyes are all self employed.

See www.hmrc.gov.uk and the section on self employment which will explain it.

You'll also need to register for class 2 NI, although if you are earning less than about £4500 (check exact figure), you can apply for an exemption certificate. You must apply for that though, and not just not pay it.
