About applying to different companies... You know how they sometimes ask if you're working for any other MS companies - what are you supposed to say?

I can't make up my mind: they might want you to say 'yes', and then they'll know that you know what you're doing as you've done it before, or do they want you to say 'no', just in case you've already done the same assignments?

    Does anyone know?

    i always put yes

havent been turned down for any .............. yet ! :)

    Hey there

Just thought I would let you know I called HM Revenue & Customs to register as self-employed on this number:
    Helpline for the Newly Self-Employed on 08459 15 45 15

I told them that my income would be very small at around £300 max and the guy is going to send me a 'Small Earnings Exemption Form' to fill in and return so that I will not have to pay National Insurance at (I think it was) £2.10 a week. Not much cop paying that if you are earning less then a tenner a month! You have to pay National Insurance though if you earn over £4465 a year.

    Quite complicated all this eh?!

I think so. :) I've had two assignments so far, okay they don't pay much, but even a few extra pounds are better than nothing.

I'm only going for assignments nearby at the moment, or trying to bundle them together for the same day and same location if I have to go further out.

The ones I've done have been quite easy, and the paperwork only took a few minutes (spent ages trying to figure out my scanner though! :o)

    Hi Folks

Thinking of registering Mystery Shopping so thanks for the info.

    Has anyone used paidopinions.com? http://www.paidopinionsonline.com/site/index.html

It looks good but they charge a one off fee to register of £32 does anyone have any experience of them?

This is probably the best bit of information for the Self employed (Mystery Shoppers) in their spare time!.... http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/forms/cf10.pdf

    Self-employed in your spare time

You have to pay Class 2 contributions if you are self-employed in your spare time. This applies even if you are also paying class 1 earnings related contributions as an employee, or office holder. But you do not have to pay Class 2 contributions if…

You apply and are granted a Certificate of Small Earnings Exception, or

You are told by the Inland Revenue National Insurance Contributions Office that you do not need a certificate of Small Earnings Exception when you apply for one. This may be because your net earnings from your self-employment in your spare time are not expected to be more than £1,300, and you are liable for Class 1 contributions as an employee.

Can someone report this as spam please? Twirlypen has only ever made one post and the one above it is? Asking dfw's for money upfront - I mean really!

    Thanks
