Date, Company, Assignment, Fee, Reimbursements, payment date, Milage, Tax (22%), profit from job (which is... fee - milage@40p per mile / 100 x 78 = profit) if that makes sence?
I have to manually add it all up but heyho! I assume you don't include reimbursements in tax because it's not profit!
re "free meals" I'd put it down as fee - £0 reimbursement £whatever it was
If you create a table in word there is an option to add it up - it's in the tables & borders toolbar & it's a little symbol that looks like an 'E', the same as the symbol used in Excel.0 -

**For those registered with the Inland Revenue**
I recently got a National Insurance Contributions bill for £16.80, this has crossed in the post with my application for an exception for class 2 payments. It says I have 3 weeks to pay it, should I still pay it or wait for my certificate?

Umm not sure sorry. Why don't you ring the NI office and find out what the best thing to do is?
Sorry can't help you, I am waiting for my class 2 exemption form too!0 -
Becles wrote:You can claim 40p a mile for business miles. For S/E work, just keep a tally of total S/E miles and multiply it by 40p to get your mileage expenses, and take that off your profits. Your profits will already include reimbursements for mileage, so it'll work itself out.
On PAYE employers keep a tally of the miles for each PAYE company and how much they reimburse you. You can claim the difference between 40p and the mileage paid (if any!) on your tax return. You'll have a page for each employer which is why you need to keep a seperate tally for each company.
But don't forget that the 40p per mile is only taken off before your tax is calculated. You are not actually reimbursed that amount. Paying 20-odd percentage tax will reduce your tax bill by 8p per mile. So, if you pay no tax at all - then you don't get anything back. Worth bearing in mind when you work out if it's really worth driving 20 miles for a burger!! :eek:0 -
