Do you know if they eventually start to up the fee (with a higher shopper rating)? I'll hardly make anything on the job I'm doing on Monday. :rotfl:

Put it this way, I've never seen the words Gap and decent fee used in the same sentence :D

I used to do one of their clients when another company had the contract and was paid £15 per shop, plus mileage and parking. As it's a shop where you can be easily be in there for over half an hour, £15 is a reasonable fee. As Gap only pay £6 per visit now, I just don't think it's worth doing them anymore. By the time you add up the visit time, travel time and time taken to type up your report, you're lucky if you make minimum wage.

Use Gap as fillers if you happen to be in a place anyway, especially the foodie ones as it saves you buying your own lunch. Don't go out of your way to do work for them though, as you'll make nothing or even a loss.
Here I go again on my own....

Hi there, has anyone ever done one of the revealing assignments for TNS? I've only just been agreed by them and havent done any jobs yet but there's one near me for Monday that's a 'reveal with a letter at the point of purchase'. Is this scary? What does it say on the letter? Do you have to give them feedback there and then? Don't know whether to take it or not...Any advice would be great thanks.

The two jobs I accepted over the phone were only £4 each (I didn't know that at the time!) I would have been out of pocket on one of them, so cancelled. The bus fare to the other job (there and back) will be £2.40, so I'll be making a whopping £1.60! I'll be able to have breakfast with my partner so that's the only reason why I'm bothering. :rotfl:

It's not scary at all, go for it! :)

I've done two now, and they've been absolutely fine. I quite enjoy seeing the look on people's faces when they see the letter. :D

The letter itself just says that this person is a mystery shopper and the programme has been agreed by your head office, blah blah. You're not supposed to give them any feedback under any circumstances, and the letter says that as well. I've never been asked for feedback anyway (people are usually too shocked to think of it :rotfl: )

Just take it, you'll be fine. At least they're paying mileage as well. ;)
  • I have to say I think I would be too embarrassed to ever show my face in the store again if I did a 'reveal'!! I bet it's quite good fun though.

I know chocolategirl! Fortunately there's another of this store much nearer to me so I'd never really need to go to this shop! If its still available, I'll go for it!
