Just done my first two assignments. Both the same task but in different towns.
Thought I would go red and look suspicious (like I do when I go for a Tesco R&R) but I was fine.
Part of me feels guilty though because one place was exceptional, but the other dire.I wonder if I've got someone into real trouble?
I know if they do their jobs properly they won't but is it normal to feel guilty the first few times?

I get hassle from people who know I do Mystery Shopping about how do live with myself. I just polietly say that at the end of the day it's the customers perception and MS is a way for the company to find out what their customers want and how it can be improved. Sometimes it's just added support or training the individual needs and the MS can highlight that. Only once have I ever given a dire report. Though at a recent shop, the staff were more interested in planning a birthday night out than serving customers.

We had a visitor the other week from Canada, and she's a retail manager. We got talking about MSing and she was saying how much trouble MSers are over there, and how they're always trying to be really difficult and awkward

    I was like :o

But I guess things might be a tad different in North America  :rotfl:

    I did my fist 2 ms's yesterday.

I read the forms and printed them off but forgot to make a note of the building on both the left and right - there was only the right on the form.

when I came to do it online - I had to put in the name of the one on the left too and I couldnt remember it. We ended up going back last night to find out.

that said I did 2 in about 1.5 hours ( inc travelling) and reporting. and I know I could have done it quicker. ( i got lost) so thats not a bad hourly rate.

cant wait for my next ones.

Edit - I've decided to put all my MS earnings into a separate account and not touch it. When I pay my tax bill at the end of the year, whats left i'll pay off my debts in a lump sum. SOunds like a plan to me.

  • Am I right in thinking GAPbuster don't reimburse for travel and all you get paid is the shopper fee? I would log on and check but it's playing up at the moment!

    Thanks.

Im with TNS but didnt have to do a test or any sort when joined, its about 5 years since I joined now though.

As I am not currently working the mystery shopping is a great way of getting out and trying to do something like work!

Ive also recently joined Retail Eyes but havent done any jobs with them yet as there havent been any that suit me or are at times I can manage!

Its so much easier is having online booking systems, when I first started mystery shopping you just got phone calls asking if you were able to do them, then got the packs through the post and had to post them back - now everytings done online and only the receipt sent back - Freepost!
