Yep, first was at 7.30pm and again about 8.45. I wasn't using it in between.

that is the time the network is coming out off one of it peek times on the amount of users online ,
i would say your getting slow speeds at 19:30 and the speeds are getting better at 20:45 ,
or in other works your pings, jitter and latancy are high at 19:30 and they are returning to normal at 20:45
high ping ect start about 14:00 and finish about 20:00
there or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff

I have the same issue with my 50mb line, check next time if rebooting the superhub bring its straight back up to speed.

That will indicate if its a superhub problem (which is the problem I have - be grateful, my 50mb line drops out to 0.05mb...)
  • I am using a long range Belkin wireless router and standard VM modem.

Then the first thing to do is retest using ethernet to rule out an wireless issues. Though I don't think that is the problem.

  • I have tried this using a laptop and all was well. I rebooted modem and router and it flies, for about half an hour, then dives again. Don't know if VM is the best way to go in my area. They are very strong on the estate I live on as they were plumbed in when it was built.

If necessary you need to get VM to arrange an engineer visit.
Changing suppliers will require you to have a BT-based ASDL line installed. There are no alternative cable suppliers to VM.

  • Sorry, one last question. If I do go to say 100M with VM, would that give me unlimited and a faster BB or does the fair use still apply? I will be talking to VM but they could tell me all I want to hear ?

FUP and traffic management are not the same thing. TM is well explained on the VM site.

I must be fortunate then, am on the 100mb service and never get less than 98mb download and 4.8mb upload.

Only time i get 'managed' is after a session of movie downloads.
  • Just a thought.. but maybe somebody uses your wifi without you knowing it...
