November 2012 Grocery Challenge

Hello,
I've just signed up to the forum mainly so that I can take part in this! We are on quite a tight budget this winter so I am going to aim for £150 on groceries in November. There is only myself and my fianc! and we don't drink alcohol in the house so that keeps costs down. I'd say our average spend is between £150-200 a month, but I've never actually kept tabs on it so this should be interesting. Any extra money we save will be put towards ChristmasNovember Grocery Challenge = £83.47/£1500 -
Hi there. *waves sheepishly from the background* Can I join again please. DH back from Afghanistan. He's moving to Birmingham for 2 years and I'm going to be dividing my time between Home and there. Joy. Going to have to kit out a complete house down there, including all staples/basics and a f/freezer. He starts there on the 17th and we don't even have contracts yet. Agggggggghhhhhh.GC Mar 13 £47.36/£1500

I used to do the Grocery Challenge but have been missing for a looooooong time. After one of the family being diagnosed with high cholesterol I have concentrated on the healthy rather than cheap aspect of food and my budget has suffered accordingly!
So back on the wagon! Whilst a lot of the special offers and recipies (espec baking:eek:)are now unsuitable for us, I'm sure plenty can be adapted or are ok. I just have to wade through them and identify the ones which will work. Whilst I will probably never get my budget back down to its old levels, I'm sure I can improve on what it is now.... (although I have no idea really what I have spent recently as not tracked it at all)
So will guess a budget for this month of £350 for the five weeks between now and Nov payday0 -
Well last month was a complete disaster. Final count was £380/300. I have to claw back a total overspend of £300. So going for £280 in November (is a 4 week month and away for some of it so doable I hope) First spends £49in Mr M, £22 in L#%l. Giving the butcher a miss this week as we have a whole chicken in the freezer.GC July 345/325Aug GC 297.50/300:money: GC Sept £251/300
