liz-paul - keep the freezer door firmly closed until you really have to move the food out of it. It should keep things frozen for at least 12 hours as long as they haven't already defrosted.2025 Fashion on the ration

Hope you get sorted liz- paul! We had a fire in our outhouse last month and lost everything- gutted. Not much in the freezer but that wasn't really the point.
Have just been for my salady shop- how expensive!! ...and they say how cheap it is to eat healthily.
Anyway, made up for it with a few bargains. Between Assda and Liddel I got some mushrooms, spring onions, spinach, beef mince, red kidney beans and chopped toms for £4.97. Why is it though you always forget one of the only things you went out for?! Balsamic dressing. Nevermind, looks like tomorrow will not be a NSD for me. I think I'm going to declare November over for me, at an underspend of £101.75 of the £140.00 I'd budgetted because we don't need anything before Friday. Over the four months I've been doing the challenge I've spent £538 of the £578 I'd allowed myself overall, so I'm really pleased. Thanks to everyone who's involved with this challenge, as it means I have stopped frittering away money on YSs I don't need and treats we can quite obviously do without.Better is good enough.0

Right another £2.00 spent today on milk.
Total for the month was £19.85. To spend that much in a month was doubling up the T's cc vouchers on frozen food and using up as much in the cupboard as possible. Don't need anything else this month. New month starts on Friday.
Such an achievement for us, especially when we have had a really tough couple of months. Looking forward to the December GC. See you over there....
February GC £26.68/£2500 -

For those of you that wanted an update on Florenceem I remembered I had seen her post in July so I searched by going to zippychick's first post and clicking back through "last month's" links to July and then searched on her name under search thread. Then I found her at post no 1176 here. Then I clicked on her name and checked out other posts by her - so now I know she last posted on the forums on 3rd November "Hoarding - not just on TV" thread - here.
Also another tip to find December quickly, if you click on the "old style moneysaving" link in the thread path under the banner with "credit cards", "reclaim thousands" (and so on) that is immediately under Martin's picture at the top of the page, you will always find the Grocery Challenge near the top of the page because this, fly-lady and the daily threads move so fast on the Old-Style Board.
I hope that helps

Miracle of miracles - my freezer is freezing again! The only things thta went 'soft' were bread & ice cream. I assume the bread is safe to eat and proably the ice cream too? Not sure, maybe I should test it! Hopefully this was some sort of weird blip and not a sign that it is on the blink.... Thanks for all the comments :beer:1% at a time no. 40. £8000 (For dream family holiday) 94/100

Bread is safe to refreeze, I've been doing it since I had my first freezer in the 70's.... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

I just remember in the food hygiene training we were told not to.
Good that your freezer is behaving itself again though
