hope you're all doing better than me in this long month before the c-word! xxx

    i am so pleased
we start our december budget tomorrow as hubby changed jobs and now gets paid on time :)
This is first time i have come in so far under budget , thanks to everyone on the forums , mr al*i , mr wai*rose for the most amazing reductions (to name just one 2 whole mackerel 49p :)) , my slow puncture on my car which discourages me from going anywhere unless i really need to (as i have to pump it up first) which has created 10 no spend days :) .
I must also add we are on a low carb/low sugar diet , only have co-op , wait*ose and *ldi in the nearest town , which is 7 miles away .
we have radically cut food waste over the last month and really been creative with using up food to make meals/lunches , batch cooking and making most things from scratch .

feeling really motivated to do even better next month and we have 3 guests xmas day , and 10 for new years eve party !
Started my own business and loving being my own boss

  • A £3.44 spend in Tescos. Bread, milk, a mushroom stirfry and a curry.

They were also doing 12x Richmonds thick cut sausages for half-price (£1.50), so got a packet of them, which my 2nd purse is paying for.
Because it's fun to have money!
    £0/£70 August GC

Great result, I had to giggle about the car, having to pump up a tire first would certainly put me off going shopping :rotfl:

Took DS for his induction in new job, went to P.O. to send a recorded delivery letter then went to Iceland to use a till spit. Got to the till and cashier said it is exactly £30. I know I said! She asked me if I had counted it up as I went around. Yes I did I replied! So £3 taken off of that-a £2 till spit for next week and another £3 one for the week after. I got a 1.9 kg turkey crown-not too big as we are having other meats as well due to me inviting my brothers family over fo Christmas.Got some carrots and have peeled 6 portions. 100g each so no waste. Froze one bag with 300g in. The bag was 1.5kg for £1. Some left in fridge.Got some youngs fishcakes for tea for either today or tomorrow. Orange juice is on offer(the £1 carton) at 2 for £1.50 and Anchor butter is 2 for £2. A few other things but they were the bargains!
Got home and realised I have run out of tinned cat food(we have dry)so I gave her half a tin of sardines. I will pop in Mr T on the way to my cousins this afternoon and get some-unless Mr A is cheaper-Going to look online! Catching up with washing now and must put breadmaker on or there will be no bread! 2nd dehumidifer is working a treat in keeping conservatory dry and is better than leaving a radiator(electric)on out there. It is only single glazed so is a nightmare.
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults

Dipped into my Weekly cash allowance to buy 3 carrots for a batch-cook soup - £0.41!!!
So I think I am still on course to stay within my current balance this month of £93.42.

Did a massive sort out of recipes - some from old recipe books/files, some off the web.
Starting to work through them - aiming to do one new thing a week to add to my repertoire!
First up - tomorrow will be doing Salmon Burgers and an adaptation on Nigel Slater's Courgetti.

I had to call Lakeland after I discovered all my veg in the stay fresh bag with a load of condensation.
I had to use up the remaining bags to dry the veg off and rebag... and have washed out the initial bags.
But in fairness - even though there was some condensation - a lot of the veg looked fine - but nonetheless - going to use up some today on a stir-fry.

Batch-cooking a Potato, Carrot and Cabbage Soup for freezing up... and will do a Thai Spiced Sweet Potato and Courgette one on Friday for the next week.
At the end of next week - I'll add in a Tomato soup and that should keep me stocked for a while as I really want to have soup at lunch most days now.

A small £7.58 spend today which should set me up for the rest of the week I think. Done my meal plan and don't think we will need to go out for anything. Really pleased to come in at £83.47 :) Going to treat ourselves a bit more next month once OH gets paid, but this month has been very tight financially so the challenge has done us good. I've noticed I didn't eat as much fruit this month so I'm going to try to eat a bit healthier next month (to counteract Christmas :rotfl:) so this will probably increase the food bill too.
    November Grocery Challenge = £83.47/£150

angelatgraceland - sending you lots of hugs. What a time you're having. I hope your DD isn't hurt and you get the car sorted out quickly. Good news for your DS though - hope it all goes well for him.

My GC is all to pot because I haven't been writing it down and had no time to add up the receipts etc., but I'm fairly sure I'm within budget :o I'll stick it out to the end of the month and try to read the posts even if I don't join in myself!
