Advice on poorly stray- update in post 32

Hi- been to the emergency vets today with a stray cat which turned up with a raw wound on its neck where it used to have a collar.
Vet says injury is superficial but made worse by allergic dermatitis due to heavy flea infestation . Puss has scabs and soreness all over it's body and is very underweight. Vet treated her with long lasting antibiotic and anti inflammatory and directed us to tesco to buy frontline as they can't prescribe that under emergency rules.
Cat treated and fed and now asleep in utility (we have a 12 year old house cat who does not like other cats!)
My question is - is there anything else I can do for her skin such as bathing her or should I just book in with my regular vet tomorrow? Am frightened to even comb her with such sore scabby skin. Thanks.

I think the best thing would be to just let her have a good sleep tonight without disturbing her any more. Your regular vet may issue some ointment or cream for the sore areas, but the destruction of the fleas and the anti-inflammatory will do wonders in the long term. Give her a week or so and the skin will healing nicely. She sounds like she's been in a bad way for quite some time....she must be so grateful for the kindness you've shown her.0

Welcome!
Book her in to see the regular vet tomorrow if you can afford to, let them guide you as to the best treatment. Ring all the rescues you can find including the smaller independents - try CatChat and Purrsinourhearts - emphasise her condition and see if you can get an emergency place. Regular meals and the medication she has been given will go along way, even in a few days. She may also need treating for worms and perhaps ear mites. Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Bless you for caring xx0

Rescues should make her a priority because of her state, or at least pay vet bills until they can take her. I'm totally asounded that vet wouldnt give frontline (I'm presuming spot on and not spray because of her sores). I really wouldn't comb. If vet decides not to give cream, (which would be very odd), aloe vera gel is amazing, but first choice is definitely vets.DONT BREED OR BUY WHILE HOMELESS ANIMALS DIE.
