Can someone clear this up for me, it's semi-related to this, when I hear the word "cashback", I assume it's withdrawing cash from your own bank account when paying for something by card at a shop, so what is THIS cashback meant to mean?
Don't burn me, I'm only young!

It means you get money back weeks/months down the line for a whole host of things. ie if you buy something from Play.com through a cashback site you get a percentage back.
  • Hi Cacolantern,

The cash back they are refering to is money tranfered into your account from websites like quidco or topcashback for shopping online or buying products through their website. For example I just switched my gas and electric to NPower through the quidco website and should get £38 for doing it. Basically most companies will pay a referal fee to companies that get people to buy on their website quidco are the referal company and they pay the referal fee back to us. I have had £230 back through quidco for buying things I had to buy anyway i.e Home insurance, car insurance. you can also get % of your sales back from tonnes of websites, I am tracking £3.99 from Apple which is 1% cash back for the Ipad I just bought. It's a great way to get money back but it does take time to get the payments through months in most cases. Hope this sort of explains it. Best way is to look at the websites, they charge for their service like quidco kept the first £5 I made as their fee.
  • Ohh, I get it now, cheers guys! :D
  • I am having problems with Quidco with regard to Cashback I am owed from Orange.

In July I bought(thru Quidco) a £7 per month, Dolphin SIM from Orange with the promise of £50 Cashback. The cashback was the only reason I bought the sim.

It has been declined by Orange twice now, the latest time saying the sim was Cancelled/Returned. How can they say this? I am using and paying for the Sim.

Has anyone else had the same problem?
  • I started using Quidco in July and then after seeing reviews, I quickly switched to TCB. I have had £50 now payable to me and I'm still waiting on the £17.50 from Quidco. I've also used the same retailers on each site lastminute, hotels.com, oasis, waterstones etc and all have been made payable in TCB but are still stuck on tracked in Quidco.

If you've got quidco, cut your losses and use topcashback.

I wish I'd starting using cashback websites earlier - I would have saved so much by now!
  • I agree. Quidco refused cashback for a purchase I made, I appealed and emailed them the despatch email, and the order confirmation email, both bearing the same order number.

As the despatch email was dated 2 days after the order confirmation, Quidco told me that despite the emails having the same order number, same items on it, and all the details the same, there was no way they could prove it was the same order as the one I was querying, and to provide the despatch email with the same date as the order confirmation.

I then informed them that as they could see the order was placed at 11:30pm on a Saturday, and the despatch email was received by me on the Monday, that it was the same order... as Saturday and Sunday are not generally regarded as business days. They then emailed back to say my case had been closed and no further correspondence would be answered.

Muppets. I switched to TCB and *fingers crossed* have not had any problems.

I always use TopCashBack now, stopped using Quidco years ago. No £5 annual fee and majority of the time the cashback is the same amount. TCB also do top-ups and quite often recently have paid me out of their own pocket when a company haven't paid up or responded.
  • I cant say that I have experienced any major problems with Quidco to date, and any minor issues I have had have always been sorted out using their helpdesk system.

In my years of using them, I have saved thousands in cash-back that I would not have otherwise received.

Ive been using quidco ( when i remember lol ) for a few years and haave never had a problem , in fact they seem to be paying out much quicker these days
Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later
  • I've been using quidco for a few years now and have never had problems untill recently. Now it seems any substantual cashback is declined, this year alone I've had over £200 declined all big amounts and yet the small ones of a pound or two are paid. Have just had another for £35 declined this week from carphone warehouse.
I'm fed up of trying to contact them and just getting brushed off!
