Have a mix of paint/grease/dirt on them and if there is something you could suggest that would tackle all 3 at once that would be great. Was thinking white spirit but would that do the dirt as well? Also, would you usually turn off your electricity while you're doing this?
First rule of cleaning - tell us whatever they're made of!
If they are plastic I would use a just-damp cloth over my fingertip with a dab of cif (supermarket own brand though) and rub, gently. Then wipe off with a clean just-damp cloth.
(no I wouldn't turn the leccy off - but that's me)
If they are laquered brass nothing harsh. *waits to see what they're made of*Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Hi Valli, apologies, they are just white plastic. I think after the baby wipes I might need something like cif with a wee bit of a scour in it; I will try that and see.0

cif will work excellently on then, then
*sighs with relief as had no clue what to recommend for brass;)*
I have done a maidenful of ironing
listened to DD's 'idea' - seems the kitchen may get painted this half-term:p we've thought of another colour we might like:o:D
Dad has been and filled in the screw holes on the doorframe so the wood could be varnished
prepped, and cooked a dinner. We're having whoopsied roast gammon, HM roasts, HM honey roast parsnips (I flung some honey over them - this is an experiment), mashed pots, sprouts, broccoli with HM yorkshires followed by HM rice pudding.:cool:Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Valli I may just start calling your Kirstie
So need to go to town, so don't want to.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Yay, I have done everything I intended to today. Not that the list was very long and dogs have only had one walk, but not bad. Going to have a cuppa, a family sized bag of wine gums and do some puzzling. Got to keep the brain active in my old age.Spend less now, work less later.0

So I haven't kept up with the lists this week again - really must try harder. Having a new full time job is taking a lot of getting used to. The week goes by so quickly, and I don't want to spend all weekend cleaning!
I've not caught up on the thread, will try to later. Positive vibes to all that need or want them.
I've got a beef stew on the go, WM is on its 3rd load of the day. My plan for the next few hours is to get the house up to a reasonable standard to start flying properly again tomorrow. I also need to do the ironing.
Sunday catch up
Living room - quick dust and hoover
Kitchen and dining room - sweep, hoover, wipe table
Landing and stairs - hoover
Bedroom - clean clothes away, do all ironing, clean sheets on bed, dust, hoover
Bathroom - S&S sink and toilet
Extras - make tomato soup, make cake, collect all stuff to eb*y into a box
Off I go....!0 -
Just a very quick post - baby wipes did the trick on the light switches - you can really notice the difference! ( although I will also get some cid type stuff cos haven't any in the house) Thanks for your help!0

Yay rewarded by going to town - found a book I've been toying with buying on amazon all week (but at nearly £18 not an impulse buy) for £2.99 in the oxfam bookshop and it is in brilliant condition and the latest publication. Very Happy.

Washing on the maiden so DS1 will have clean tops for work tomorrow.

Karma!
love Kirstie x
TV off; radio off; house peaceful. DS playing football again. DW filled - I usually do run it Sunday afternoon (if I have cooked) because there's a lot to put away afterwards but I'm off tomorrow (and all week *grins*) so I will steel myself to come down and switch it on in the night (one of my colleagues asked if I set an alarm - no, I'm menopausal so I don't sleep:rotfl:) as I am on economy 7. DD has gone down following my input of meter readings. Must make a note when I need to do it again.
The Valligirl and I have bought paint for the kitchen walls. Apparently we need to do a sealant coat first, as it's bare plaster, so that was bought too. It is the colour of mint choc chip ice cream. I MUST make a start on this ASAP. This is a CANE TOAD of a job :rotfl:Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear0
