So, do you mean that if I cancelled my Sky subscription, I would be automatically moved to this "Freesat from Sky" deal? Being able to watch all those channels without paying anything extra, and without changing anything in the physical settings?ScarletBea wrote: »You say that the Sky+ recording features stop, so what would I need to do if I wanted the recording?
(I'm just wondering because I keep having problems with the sky signal...)
The latter also sounds like the better option overall if your Sky box is failing (though do check your dish is aligned properly too)0 -
my dad ended his £60 ish subscription about 3 months back and they have not been in touch at all.
at that time they did offer around 25% off for a year with him being tied in but he told them that his hd box had been playing up and he didnt want too be tied and the box not work but they didnt budge so he cancelled.0 -
Call them and say partner got laid off other day with no notice, you dont want to leave Sky but there is no way he will find work as all the xmas casual jobs are gone, you really need to make a significent saving to stay, what can you offer me ?SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0

I phoned up sky to cancel sky tv, I still currently have sky fibre as I'm in contract and also phoneline from them.
I'm starting to regret my hasty cancellation, my tv has around 25 days to run till its cut off. Are they likely to ring me with an offer?
You are looking for a "Winback" call with an offer?
Historically, Winback do not do offers in the first month of each Sky quarter ( of financial year ie. July, October, January, April) but Hey! we're in a recession (or maybe not according to latest government figures) so who knows!?
You will certainly be offered things to return in future months. It's up to you whether these are good enough to return.
**Internally** the company has stated that they want to move away from discounts again like they did a few years ago, for Winback and Retention. So if they do offer something good and it suits you at the time then I would advise you to take it as the deals may be poorer in future months.
As it was before the current recession, offer focus will move to upgrading/downgrading customers instead of leaving or former customers. Cancellations will just have offers on equipment repairs/upgrades.
Those of you with longer memories will remember this was the policy pre-2008.0 -
my dad was here yesterday so i phoned sky to see what they would offer.
i asked for winback and the chap said he could offer the same deals, whether he could or not i will never know.
the offer was 1/2 price for a year, no HD box and no 1/2 price HD.
you can cancel or reduce the packages at any time giving 31 days notice (where do they get 31 days from, why not 28 or 30)
dads package which was £61 ish when he cancelled in june/july was now £65.75.
the deal comes to £38 including £10.25 for the HD.
this gives him everything apart from the extra payment channels.
not a bad deal but not one i would take, i really dont see £38 worth there each month.
i packed in sky 5 years back and have a topfield pvr which does for me.
i will when this really dies (there are people that fix them and replace capacitors and hard drives fairly cheaply) get a humax with HD.
but he is happy so that was the point of the exercise.
so you can just ring to get an offer, the chap said these offers only went live yesterday, another offer was 25% off with a new HD box (i wasnt really listening to this one so might be a bit wrong here).0 -
I rang today to cancel, they didn't offer me anything. Sky goes off on 4th Dec. Got a freesat hd+ box brand new dirt cheap, that'll do us and saving £31.00/month.
He did say we'd been with sky for 13 years but still couldn't offer us owt decent.0 -
Called to cancel today after a year long half price deal, was on the phone for 35 mins,I was told they are cancelling the cancellation department as of December 1st, only half the team now can give offers to people who are leaving the others are told to say goodbye apparently.
My adviser John Paul could only offer me 20% off for a year on just sports and entertainment pack, funnily enough came to exactly what I have been paying all year. £38
I was also told SKY is no longer offering deals to new or old customers, or retaining customers. And my account would be cancelled so if I was to return it would be under a new account and under 12 month contract! Apparently they take they are going to lose customers but as everyone will be paying top whack it makes up for it?!
A load of BS i think created to stop smart people cancelling and getting a good deal later!
I'm not paying ridiculous money for TV when all I do is record freeview basically, I think enough people believe sky is amazing for SKY+. I;m going to hold out for a callback or a online welcome back deal. Or buy a PVR or BT Vision.0 -

dad went home this morning after staying at mine since friday, when he got home there was a letter from sky offering a 50% off deal, the same as i was offered over the phone apart from the letter was also offering a £50 credit on the account.
he phoned too see which deal they had given him and it seems they are going credit his account with £50 ( i dont think this will happen, as it was not mentioned when i phoned) in a couple of weeks.
im sure there will be a lot of people getting these shortly.0 -

I got a similar letter
50% off, new HD box, £50 credit, but I would have to pay the £10 a month for HD. So no thanks.0
