No, they won't call - and no, you don't have fibre. (You have copper, like everyone else!). :)

We've had sky on half price deals for over 2 years now. Each time we have phoned to cancel they have offered another deal. This time, however we have failed. But you know what? We don't really care. This has got us to thinking that the amount we actually watch the Sky channels is not even worth the half price we've been paying. So what we have now is a Sky+ box and a dish for freeview channels and a saving of at least £380 per year. I think the only thing we'll miss is the ability to record but with the savings we'll soon be able to afford a nice, reliable freeview PVR box.

You aren't getting Freeview via a dish. It's a terrestial service via an aerial. You are getting Freesat From Sky. If you want PVR facilities on that system then you will need a Freesat PVR, not Freeview.

No, not at all. You will still get all the same channels except for the subscription ones (i.e. all the Freesat From Sky ones). However, the Sky+ PVR functions will cease to work, and you won't be able to decrpyt existing recordings.

What still works when you are switched off? I thought the entire box would just stop working?
It will still operate as a receiver of satellite broadcasts, but it will no longer decrypt the subscription channels you have ceased paying for.
All the recording features of Sky+ will cease and you won't be able to view archive recordings you've made either.

You may be pleasantly surprised by the channel line-up still available to you:

    I just saw this.
So, do you mean that if I cancelled my Sky subscription, I would be automatically moved to this "Freesat from Sky" deal? Being able to watch all those channels without paying anything extra, and without changing anything in the physical settings?

You say that the Sky+ recording features stop, so what would I need to do if I wanted the recording?

(I'm just wondering because I keep having problems with the sky signal...)

Cost 10 quid a month in subscription to sky for the recording features

Just buy a humax box, all the free channels,HD,iplayer etc , pause live tv etc all for a one of purchase price

    There are other boxes available
