Christmas Present ideas - what do YOU actually want?

I've struggled with coming up with things I want for the last couple of years, though interestingly it's been the years that I haven't had money that I've struggled to think of birthday or Christmas presents! When I had a full-time salary I was always spending and I always wanted things (though I always lived within my means), then I gave up my full-time job for the student life and consequently had hardly any money. I stopped spending lots of money on clothes and bits and bobs and ended up ebaying a whole load of clothes and things that had been bought on a whim and only worn/used once or twice, and I realised that I had just been spending for the sake of it. So now I don't often feel like I want anything and I feel like I have everything I want or need!
So far all I've come up with for Christmas is:
- A book on adapting and designing my own sewing patterns
- A new perfume
- Downton Abbey Series 1 DVD
I will probably end up asking for more fabric and sewing patterns if I can't think of anything else I want!

i want a retro slush machine (cravings!)
Just a note on the retro slush machine - I ordered one for my bf and it was insanely noisy and we ended up sending it back!0 -
Speaking of retro that is what I would love! As a 49 year old married mum of 2, I am loving all this 1960's/70's stuff that is around.
I would love a hamper filled with items that are memories of my growing up:
Retro sweets, chocolates, food (pictures will be fine!)
DVD's/CD's/Itunes of my favourite 1970's music (glam rock)
Books on nostalgia, growing up in the 60's, growing up in the 70s
Photo album of my childhood
Scrapbook of [STRIKE]parafanalia [/STRIKE] newspaper clippings, magazines, song words...
oh, and a working record player to play the LPs and singles I've still gotI don't want to make money, I just want to be wonderfulMarilyn Monroe0 -
53 yr old married with 3 kids age 15,17,21. My OH says he's not buying presents this xmas as he is skint ( although he says that every year, mind you this year i think he means it lol ) he is a bit like the grinch when it comes to xmas :rotfl:I try not to mind too much as its only money but it does make me sad and I cant complain or he would think im money grabbing
what hurts is I normally only get a present if i nag in advance for weeks and what I would really love is if i didnt have to say a word and he surprised me with something wrapped up even if it was from poundland. My eldest daughter is a uni student and she buys me lovely things but i feel guilty when she does as she is strapped for cash , however if it wasnt for her I wouldnt get a thing. I should be over it at 53 but i had a very deprived childhood in and out of childrens homes and my birth parents gave me broken rubbish from jumble sales and sometimes nothing at all on birthdays so birthdays and xmas bring back painful memories . All that aside I have simple tastes and i would love to receive bubble bath, bed socks, a book, hot chocolate and a bag of sweets , if my eldest girl is reading this (she is a member of this website) please dont feel you have to buy me this lot its just a fantasy wish list

I would like a Kindle Fire0 -
I don't know how anyone will know what to buy me for christmas (& my 30th Birthday - shortly after Christmas) as I don't know what i want myself
Some possibilitys:
A Radley Handbag
Sewing Machine (I have one but its old and doesn't work well) - but i am fussy so don't know if i would trust someone to pick me a good one and want it to go in my sewing machine table
A TV - mine are all old CRT TV's - but i'm not really into gadgets!
Denby stuff
Stuff for the house - but even i don't know what - someone just to come in furnish it properly for me.
Flowers
A gold necklace - a lovely locket preferably
Diamond earings
Urban Decay - (but not eyeshadow - have tons of it!)
Claddagh Ring (Silver)
Yankee Candles (Can't go wrong with this!)
and my husband to clean the dishes lol!
The only thing i really want is for me and me husband to actually be able to live together - work committments keep us apart during the week.
Things i don't want but will probably get
Perfume - still haven't used last years up!
Smellies/bath stuff - although do like the luxury ones - but rarely use them
A really appreciate any gift that thought has been put into, even if it is something that i won't use - its the thought that counts!Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -
Right, 30 yr old, female, living with boyfriend, no kids. I work part time, him full time.
It has taken me since this thread began to now to think of something I want....
1)I want a subscription to Essentials magazine, the magazine only I bother buying any more.
2) Two DVDs -they are the latest 2 series of a show I already have the first 5 series of.
3)The naked testimonial calendar of a particular rugby team.
That's it. I have thought and thought and that really is it. I don't need anything else or want anything else.13 projects in 2013 0/130 -

23 yr old female in a relationship
I want a garlic crusher, a milk frother and flavoured cooking oils. God I'm so boring! I would also like sold out tickets to see P!nk in Manchester in case anyone reading this has 4 spare? No?
I would also like the day off work on Boxing Day, and the opportunity to meet Barack Obama.
