Just to follow up. I bought plain white Snazzy Pants ones last week. I washed them on a 40 degree wash with all my usual stuff and they have come up like new. I can definately recommend them. I wish I'd got them ages ago.

Went away for a couple of nights camping at the weekend. I could not wait to get hom and back to my washable ones.

Is the mooncup more for girls that use tampons? Or is it very different?

if you are squeemish about using tampons, then the mooncup wont really appeal to you either, espec as its about 3 times the width of a tampax

also, if you are used to applicator tampons, then using the mooncup is a new experience, but still easier than trying to insert a non applicator tampon

It's very different from a tampon but I've never worn pads (apart from after babies).

If you like wearing pads then the washables sound great but for folks who prefer 'internal' protection the Mooncup is a cracking invention.

It DOES take some getting used to and though I would say that I'm pretty un-squeamish, I found it all a bit yeugh for the first few months. I'm glad that I persevered though as it's clean, hygenic, comfortable (like others have said, the 'dragging' feeling isn't there) and suits me for running, using the gym etc.
Just run, run and keep on running!

I hate the cotton wool feel of tampons and they just dont work for me. Not squeemish as I used to have a diaphram. I am considering the mooncup but it is rather expensive if I don't like it.

I used a diaphragm for 10 years and loved it. But tampons are painful. I don't fancy the mooncup for the same reason.

No one warned me that my cervix would shift after I had my son though! I can't use my diaphragm any more.

but you get 3 cycle trial, and if you dont like it, you can return it for a refund

i have yet to find someone who has returned it, other than to try a different size. i think once you have tried it, you just wouldnt contemplate using normal tampons again

give it a go, its worth it - i know it seems expensive as a one off purchase, but in the long run it does work out cheaper than buying disps
  • It says it's wise to wear extra protection during the heavier times in case you get leaks....I'm going to wear a balaclava so no one knows it's me leaking! :rotfl:
