I was under the impression that Bluetooth 3.0 was backwards compatible with 2.0 but I'm happy to be corrected.

    Bluetooth is backwards compatible.

    This is interesting, though: http://motorola.pairx.co.uk/?l=28&a=0&pp=899&sm=13&sp=1324&j=111316&jd=1307359543000&w=19czs3

Then in google navigation - when you try & set the current location as home, well i'd say it doesn't work, but i don't know how to do that.
I get to where it says enter an address as your home, but see, our house doesn't have a number - it's a name & the road name is "main road", so there'll be a lot of those.
Why not just enter your postcode?

Seems like a stupid question, but have you read the manual?

I moved from an iPhone 4 to an S3 and i have to say it's been the smartest decision i have ever made! Took me a while to get used to it but got there in the end.

you can download the manual from the samsung website, or directly onto your phone, this should help!

Tried NavFree this morning - good stuff. Thanks for that. Doesn't seem as polished as TomTom, but for a free app it's great.

Postcode - it'll just take you to a region. Where we park, it's off the road. I'm a bit anal like that - like it to route to a specific manually entered point.

I should test my sisters iPhone 4S which she's just bought to see if this pairs with my headunit. If it does then it does away with the 4.0 argument. The wife has/had avast installed on there too, so i don't know if this was blocking anything.

AFAIK she's read the manual? She's done a bit of researching online too to sort her problems & it hasn't worked.

She's picked up another phone problem today.....

tries to change the tone & vibrate for messages & notifications. She showed me what it was doing - she'd select a new vibrate sequence & a new tone. I text her & it's as though she's not changed anything at all, yet i've seen that she has.
She's looked up & asked online with nothing positive as a reply.

She's currently trying a factory reset.

    Update:

The iPhone 4S pairs with my headunit
The wife did a factory reset on her Galaxy S3, whic seems to have sorted the ringtone issue mentioned before & also the bluetooth problem - as it's now pairing. Avast wasn't installed, so i still don't know if it was avast stopping this.

It just puts a spanner in the works now (for me) as i was all set to buy the iPhone 4S tomorrow. I'm thinking about the S3 again now.

If you wait until you get the Jelly bean update (provided its not already out for your carrier as some now are) Google now will automatically recognise where you live after a day or two. My S3 let's me know in the notification bar how long its going to take to get to work on any particular day and any delays on the way. I haven't typed my postcode or anything relating to the two places into the phone.

Also one thing to note you do not always have to do a factory reset to fix things. A simple 'reboot' usually fixes minor errors.

that is very interesting rusty thanks. the phone would not pair so i rang motorola to ask advice. the man i spoke to stated that the samsung s 11 is not compatable with the motorola t215, so i went out and bought another, i am going to be pretty annoyed if i have bought another one unnecessarily.
op glad you sorted your problems out
