No doubt that will be next.

After all MSE forumites "threatened" him and scared him by asking for their goods, so he could not get the hampers out. It will all be his customers' faults. Again.

cue the next radio interview saying how he tried to put it all right but it all got too much and wasn't allowed to by customers getting in the way

I suspect that might be the case.

I would also not be surprised to get people registering here to tell us how it is all our fault.

I do hope though that even those people urging others to give the bloke a chance did take advice and get a protective claim in via paypal if they were still in time.

I'm just watching a programme on BBC1 at the moment about companies escaping debts by just closing one day as xx company and opening the next as YY company, it's quite interesting.

It truly is disgusting that the laws of this country allow them to do this!
I run a small to medium sized business and a company we supplied last year did this very thing owing us about £6000!
They had it all planned weeks before they "went through" changed they're company name very slightly, and started straight up again the next day as if nothing had happened.
I don't know how some people sleep at night! I'm a bit of a believer in what goes around!
Maybe this should be Martin's next campaign to lobby the government and change the laws.

The original company is still trading on the show. It is purely all the assets that have been transferred to the other company.
  • As some of you already know, I live in Caister where the shop is/was located and have been watching this situation with interest. I've not been able to post for a few days but have been watching the shop regularly for signs of activity.
When he was due to re-open on the 7th Jan, he did open the shop. The next day he was there for a short while also and a sign went up for the new opening hours. After that, nothing. All in darkness and the van hasn't moved at all.
After reading of so much undelivered goods and the lack of stock in the shop, I couldn't see how he could possible carry on trading having little or no cash flow. The news announcement that he had ceased trading was of no surprise whatsoever.
But all has gone very quiet. The local news and papers have said nothing more. This morning I sent a tweet to the local journalist and paper asking if this situation was being looked into and they responded "Its on our list". It doesn't appear to be very high on their list of priorities.
Maybe with a lot of emails from disgruntled customers, the Great Yarmouth Mercury might investigate further.......
Good luck to those who are trying to get recompense for their losses.

    Karen.

I have emailed and tweeted and facebooked to the mercury with no response even quoting there artical

    P .S
IMO I did feel at the time and same with the local news, that they more sided with the man and the business , rather than those waiting on Hampers and ultimately refunds

I must have missed the info about him doing it before. Can somebody point me in the right direction?
