Has anyone actually seen any of these 'vile comments'?

I still agree with others that some people are too quick to judge this poor guy, I have had all my hampers to date & although slight issues I can appreicate he's trying his best to resolve problems - give him a chance!!

I think that's easier to say if you have received something. Some people have handed money over months ago and have no protection if things go wrong - money that people can't afford to lose. These are the people I have sympathy for.

Still making threats of legal action against HIS customers who HE has failed. Please someone show me anywhere where there is a threat against him. Anyone?

And he claims “vile” comments made about him by angry customers on an internet forum - which the Mercury has decided not to name - have made him ill.
Which comments have been "vile" exactly? 3000 posts on this thread and I wouldn't say any one of them was threatening or vile.

The company was founded in July 2012, and has been unable to cope with the weight of orders - with more than 1,000 placed for Christmas.
So whose fault is it that there were more than 1000 orders?

Company boss Mr Alvey said: “I’m working through refunds one by one, doing what Trading Standards have told me to do.
So not what he thinks he should do. I wonder what would happen if TS hadn't been involved?
“It’s not going to be done in a day, but we are on with it.
“We’re 110pc committed to carry on trading.”
He said he even shut the shop for a week to catch up with existing orders.
Around 40 orders were due to arrive at homes across the country yesterday, and Mr Alvey feels criticism has gone too far - with customers taking to an online forum to vent their anger.
“I’ve had threats and people were putting vile things about me,” he explained.
“I’ve got family - I’ve got a small child - and they don’t want this.
“I feel vulnerable and feel people are looking out for me - it’s made me feel very ill. It all ballooned and escalated through the forum.”
He added he is not sure how long it would take to resolve all outstanding orders, as some people had sought refunds through online payment service Paypal.
And some customers have been issued a refund and received goods, leaving Mr Alvey with further paperwork to ensure either payment is received or goods are returned.
    What threats? What vile things?
“I feel I’ve done nothing wrong in all of this, but have been a victim,” he said. “Okay, I sent hampers out late but I’m not the only one.
You've breached hundreds of contracts, mate. You haven't delivered what was promised when it was promised. That's not your customers' fault, or forum posters' faults, that's your doing.
“Thousands of companies have done this, but I’ve been put in a fishbowl due to the forum.
“I was even trying to open emails on Christmas Day - that’s how much it got to me, as I don’t want to let people down.
“It’s not like I ran away with the money.”
You did let people down. Lots of people. And you can't blame a single one of them for taking the action they have in the face of your arrogance, rudeness, poor communication and sheer bloody-mindedness.
He said he is taking legal advice over comments made on the internet forum.
Shouldn't take more than 5 minutes for a lawyer to confirm there's no case.

I have absolutley no doubt they will get refunds sorted, I handed money over in August for 6 month deal so haven't had all my hampers yet but I'm not worried & I'm sure other people wouldn't be worried if it wasn't for scaremongers on here.

    ack.

So thousands of companies have done this and he now feels he has been singled out and is therefore a victim? That is an interesting thought pattern.

I also wonder why he was 'trying' to open emails on Christmas day as that suggests he did not succeed.

My only contribution can be to remind people that have opened PayPal claims to keep them open until such time you get goods you are happy with or get a refund.

If goods arrive and you have outstanding claims With other sources then you will need to check the requirements for getting the unwanted hampers returned. If you have already sent in a cancelation request it may be that all you need to do is tell the company that the goods are available for their collection. You should not have to return these at your own cost.

Same deal as me. The retro sweet hampers weren't as described, there were items missing from the juice and jams hampers and no sign of the others that were due before xmas.

Changing the terms on his website and removing deals that people are referencing, leaving twitter, not replying to e-mails, sending things on xmas eve knowing that they wouldn't arrive, lying to people about their hampers having been sent show him to be extremely amateur and unprofessional, and he's still not learning from the experience.

I'm like you princess but how would you feel if you had handed over money and received zilch? Had no replies to emails, calls or been told you would get a delivery for 3 weeks and still had nothing. That's why most people on here are upset. When you look at it that way you do doubt someone's reliability.

Have you overlooked the fact that 'Christmas' hampers scheduled for delivery early December have started arriving after Christmas or not at all?

I do not see reporting that as scaremongering at all, it is fact. Seriously would you have been happy to receive a hamper of Christmas goodies several days after Christmas?

Also there is the issue of sub standard hampers that appears have been made up of odds and ends from the discount shelves.
